24.01.2022 Our community elders have seen many things throughout their lives, it is a privilege when they share these memories and stories with us. On today, Remembrance Day 2020, our wonderful resident Isabel wanted to share with us her time in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (W.A.A.F).

21.01.2022 Tomorrow is Remembrance Day and in commemoration of this solemn day, Ron Wollington, a resident at CapellaBay in Queensland, has put pen to paper and written a poem. Ron’s poem, titled ‘Remembrance Day’ is a wonderful tribute to all those who fought and died in wars. The black and white photo was taken in 1945 when Private Ron Wollington was 19 years old. Ron was enlisted in the Royal Ulster Riffle Brigade and he often talks about the comradery and old fashioned mateship that... has lasted a lifetime. Thank you Ron, for sharing your poetry with all of us. We are sure it will touch the hearts of many people.

18.01.2022 It was a pleasure to make and send a big card full of our well wishes to our Sutton Park home.

16.01.2022 At Rosebrook we celebrated the Melbourne Cup Carnival with a difference, we held our own special horse race. Competitive staff and residents joined in the fun by trying to get their horse over the line the first, everyone was cheering loudly, here are the winners. We couldn't think of a more fun way to celebrate the day with our race, sweeps, lunch and then watching the actual race.

15.01.2022 This week is National Carers Week and it aims to raise community awareness among all Australians about the diversity of carers and their caring roles. Carers come from all walks of life, all cultures and all religions. There are an amazing 2.65 million Australians who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend. From all of us at McKenzie Aged Care, we take this opportunity to thank all the carers who dedicate their time to looking after a loved one or a fam...ily member. We recognise the amazing contribution and positive impact you make to the lives of many. It’s also a good time to remember that carers need time to rest and recuperate too. Your health and wellbeing is as important as the person you care for. Consider McKenzie Aged Care Respite and enjoy a well-earned rest. While your loved one is experiencing the comfort, hospitality and quality care at one of our welcoming homes, you can take some time for yourself. Why not take advantage of our current limited-time special - Book four weeks of respite and get two weeks FREE! For more information contact us today on 1300 899 222.

13.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET - REMEMBRANCE DAY 11.11.2020 At 11am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. A...t the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all McKenzie Aged Care homes and offices will observe one minute’s silence, in memory of those who served and continue to serve protecting our country. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget.

12.01.2022 From everyone at McKenzie Aged Care, have a Happy Australia Day! Today is a day for reflecting, respecting, celebrating and including every Australian. However you choose to spend the day, please do it safely and be sure to take time to reflect on what the day means for you and all Australians.

12.01.2022 What better way to celebrate the warmer weather than by having a 'Beach Party', everyone practiced sun safety by putting on their hats and we were ready for the beach. With our mannequin dressed up in her bikini, we sailed away in our make shift boat - ships ahoy! Once at our tropical destination it was a sandcastle making competition. Beach songs in the background, sipping on drinks made from coconuts and it would not be a trip to the beach without an ice cream to finish off the fun.

11.01.2022 We showed our respects today holding our Remembrance service at Rosebrook . We remembered those who gave their lives for us and those who are serving today . We played the Last Post and held a minutes silence to reflect on those who gave so much for our country. Adele helped by reading the Ode.
