22.01.2022 This is our page for general information on the Rose Family I would like to take this opportunity to stress that our additional descendants group page is only for Rose Family descendants. All people wishing to become members of this group have to indicate what Rose child line they are descended from and an email address for correspondence would be appreciated. The only exceptions are if you know you are a descendant but don't know which line and I can find you in our book The Rose Family of the Bellona or where other members/descendants refer their relatives to the group. They will be automatically approved. I have sent messages to the 21 people awaiting approval that have not responded to questions or I can't find to this affect.

22.01.2022 Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas

22.01.2022 Henry Joseph Green was the 3rd child of William Green. He was the 2nd child of Mary Rose. Mary was the 1st daughter of Thomas and Jane Rose and arrived with her parents and three siblings at the age of 11 years aboard the Bellona as the first free settler family to Australia on 16/1/1793

Let’s we forget’’. 14.01.2022 PLEASE NOTE: For anyone wishing to join the descendants group it is important that you answer the two questions i.e. what line you are related to and /or your email address. Some of you I was able to find in the Rose Family of the Bellona but would also like your contact details to build our address book. Any one referred/added by an existing member of the group is automatically approved. There are a few still pending that I have no information on Thankyou

14.01.2022 On behalf of the Thomas and Jane Rose Family Society I would like to thank Rob Wilson for presenting a wonderful opportunity for Rose Cottage to be the centre of attention of his inaugural Ghost Territory Tours. They are spooky, informative, ghostly and great fun. We appreciate the contribution to maintain the Society's purpose as well. It has been such a dreadful year for many and we join with Rob in expressing our heartfelt sadness for lost loved ones. We have needed a distraction to it all and I applaud Rob for taking on the challenge. Lets hope 2021 is a better year in so many ways. Happy New Year from us all.

10.01.2022 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE Hi everyone, The Committee of the Thomas and Jane Rose Family Society would like to take this opportunity to invite and encourage you to become a member of the Society. Your membership fee of just $20 (or $15 for pensioners) entitles you to two copies per year of "The Lore of the Roses". It also lets you attend and vote at our meetings so as a descendant you have a say in the running of the Society. The Committee communicates all important information to all ...members. Once our Resource Centre is built we also intend to bury a time capsule and members will have the chance to add to it so their future descendants will be able to open it at a later date. Due to Covid-19 we have had to close Rose Cottage and this is one of our sources of income for the Society. We also have had to cancel this year's Picnic. We are seeking to build a new Resource Centre to house much more of Rose family memorabilia and we then can open as a museum and be entitled to DGR status. It will also be a place to hold our meetings and involve you all much more in our events. We intend to make use of Zoom, Facetime or Skype for those members who can't attend in person but wish to contribute. The Society is fast approaching its 40th anniversary which coincides with our next Family Reunion and we would love to see you all there in 2022. Our facebook group page of Thomas and Jane Rose Family descendants now has 665 members but we only have 215 current paid members of the Society. SO WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP! It would be wonderful if we could get as many of you as possible to join the Society and contribute to its continuance in the future. If you are already a paid up member of the Society. Thankyou We have a small group of dedicated volunteers at present but would welcome more to our meetings and at our working bees. I have attached a membership poster. It gives you all the options on how to join and be a part of the Society I would be grateful if you could also distribute it amongst your family to spread the word. We are all descendants of Thomas and Jane Rose the first free settlers to arrive in the Colony and an increase in our numbers in the Society will give us a bigger voice in the Community and help spread the word of their importance in Australian history. I look forward to meeting you at some time in the future. Warmest regards Karen Rose Secretary Thomas & Jane Rose Family Society Inc. See more

09.01.2022 Hi all, I have been speaking to Margaret about doing a sketch of the Bellona (based on picture on our website). Then selling a tea towel which would have Thomas and Jane Rose Family Society at the top and First free settler family to Australia 16/1/1793 at the bottom. We are thinking of selling these for $21.95. Based on Margaret's great sketch work for the First Fleet tea towel and in support of the Buy from the Bush initiative. I am seeking EOIs from descendants or the general public interested in purchasing these. We would love to put in a bulk order to Margaret so please indicate your interest here (Also indicate if you think it would be better to have the passenger list of the Bellona or not on the tea towel)
