21.01.2022 A very good article below to read.. This can easily happen to bottle fed cria (baby alpaca) when you spoil them and also those ‘extra’ friendly alpacas that come along. Alpacas generally as rule won’t challenge a human but if they consider you as part of the herd they will treat you like they treat their friends, or worse if they think you are a threat to them or the herd. Camelids can get such a bad name through this type of behaviour purely because people are not educated or just plain ‘don’t want to know’ because they think they know animals and they’ll handle it. Please just let them be the animals they are meant to be. They are such wonderful animals with incredible personalities without having to be all over them.

09.01.2022 During what seems to be the blurriest of years to date for Rosegum I have come across my beautiful fleeces that did the circuit in 2019. It boost my being to see them so I thought I would share them out to you all. As some of you know we have lost a considerable amount of numbers to wild dog attacks in the past 6 months, some of our best genetics that can never be replaced, and had to tend to even more with injuries far too graphic to even mention (most of which have also gone to the great green pasture in the sky). Wild dogs do not kill for food. They kill for blood and sheer joy. It is truly an horrific experience and I would not wish to anyone. I truly came close to selling all. Then I found my fleeces. And saw the amount of love and dedication that the last 10 years has produced. Please enjoy the photos as much as I do x
