25.01.2022 Good morning every body! We are under a bit of cloud coverage up here in the mountains this morning so here is a throw back to a sunrise we had some time ago! Even mother nature has her 'off' days! But i think we can forgive when we get beauties like this! Share you favourite sunrise photos in the comments below! Lets start the weekend off by sharing some light!

24.01.2022 Have you seen me during your stay at Rose Gums? Keep an eye out for our pretty pythons on the walks on the property!

22.01.2022 The fabulous Topknot Pigeon is found along Australia’s eastern coastline. It is large- about 60cm. And like all pigeon both make and female produce ‘crop milk’ for their young hatchlings. This is unique to pigeons, flamingoes and the male Emperor Penguin. This one is enjoying the palm fruits at Rose Gums. #FNQ #tourism #tour #holiday #naturereserve #nature #wildlife #plants #animals #australia #queensland #rosegumswildernessretreat #retreat #relax #rest #unwind #rainforest #waterfalls #hike #peace #tranquility #escape #like #likeforalike #followme #cassowary #snake

20.01.2022 Keep an eye out for these little creatures on your decks during your stay at Rose Gums!

17.01.2022 Well! It’s been some time since posting. A lot has happened to all of us. Rose Gums is so busy now with our loyal local guests. Thank you for supporting us. I am very touched! As for our other visitors there are regular sightings of red-bellied black snakes, carpet snakes and tree snakes. It is breeding season. I saw this black snake and then this newly shedded skin nearby. Look closely you’ll see how long it is. Our musky rat-kangaroo is with young in her pouch. It’s all happening at Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat. Phone us direct to book. We would love to hear from you. Sincerely Peta & Jon Nott owners

16.01.2022 Throughout all this Corona Craziness we have been overwhelmed by the support shown by our locals from the Tablelands, Cairns, Townsville and beyond! A huge thank you to everyone whom has booked and stayed with us! We are very honored you have chosen Rose Gums to retreat to during these times. We truly do miss meeting our guests! As we are taking our regulations very seriously we have had to adapt and operate under a contact-less check in/out procedure. Again, Thank you for your cooperation and ongoing support. From Peta and Jon and the Rose Gums team

15.01.2022 So... Meet the latest member of the Rose Gums Family! Our Bush Stone-Curlews have successfully hatched their latest chick and the Curlew family can be seen around our Treehouses. Bush Stone-Curlews are very protective parents and will charge with wings outstretched, making aggressive calls if anything is getting too close to the youngster. The fledgling curlew also relies heavily on camouflage, staying motionless when an intruder is around until mum and dad to chase the threat away. Bush Stone-Curlews also have a very eerie wailing call that they make at night, and if you don't know what it is it can be a bit disconcerting to hear! Our Curlew family are seen daily by our guests and here's hoping you get the chance to visit them very soon.

14.01.2022 The weather is looking fantastic today! Perfect day for a walk to our waterfall! Have a great weekend from the Rose Gums team!

14.01.2022 Jon found this delightful green-eyed tree frog with its metallic green and brown markings in a treehouse at Rose Gums. Quite a special frog found only in far North Queensland.

13.01.2022 It has been some time since we posted. Rose Gums is now busier than ever. Thank you to our loyal locals. A lot has happened in this difficult transition for many of us. 08.01.2022 A beautiful day on the Atherton Tablelands. Perfect to visit nearby Millaa Milla Waterfall.

07.01.2022 A taste of Rose Gums at night. Nothing better than a cosy fire on these cool nights. Who else loves winter?

06.01.2022 Have you been on any of our walking tracks? There are many rewards at the end of the trails! Possibly a Platypus sighting, turtles and even a refreshing swim! Let us know if you can spot any of the Platypus!

06.01.2022 Just had to share how amazing the young curlews to not being seen. Camouflaging amongst leaf litter and sprawling flat on the ground.

06.01.2022 This is an adorable 7 month old cassowary chick at Rose Gums with the beginnings of the neck wattles and casque on its head. It’s dad’s name is Casey. Can you help us with a name starting with C’ or ‘K’?

05.01.2022 If you find yourself being caught out mid- yawn just like Casey the Cassowary maybe it’s time to book a stay at Rose Gums for some R&R! #getaway #yawn #tired #relax #cassowary #nature #needed #romantic #rainforest

05.01.2022 Spoiler Alert!!! The Bandicoot survives! So... What happens when one of Rose Gums Northern Brown Bandicoots gets a bit distracted by a banana skin and fails to notice the 4 metre+ Amethystine Python sneaking up on him??? Well, normally this would end rather badly for the Bandicoot however fortunately for our little friend, Rose Gums' new Manager David is an experienced wildlife carer and snake handler, and after snapping the pic, walked down, gently picked up and relocated t...he big Amethystine well away from this little guy, and our treasured resident Musky Rat Kangaroos who live nearby. Just another moment at FNQ's Southern Atherton Tablelands premier boutique rainforest, wilderness and wildlife Retreat and here's hoping you get the chance to experience it in person very soon... #FNQ #tourism #tour #holiday #naturereserve #nature #wildlife #plants #animals #australia #queensland #rosegumswildernessretreat #retreat #relax #rest #unwind #rainforest #waterfalls #hike #peace #tranquility #escape #like #likeforalike #followme #cassowary #snake See more
