25.01.2022 At this rate NSW koalas will be extinct by 2050

24.01.2022 Today Victoria introduced laws to ban gay and gender conversion therapy. This quackery destroys lives - a ban in NSW is long overdue.

21.01.2022 The NSW Prison system is broken. Here's what I had to say in Parliament

21.01.2022 Shredded + destroyed. That's what happened to EVERY single document approving the spending for the $252 MILLION Stronger Communities Fund. This should tell you everything you need to know about how the Liberals and Nationals are running the show. ... No documents. No accountability. No idea.

20.01.2022 Enough is enough.

18.01.2022 Private prisons should not exist.

13.01.2022 I think I need to say something about this. What happened at the student protest yesterday was entirely unacceptable. The level of force police used on students and staff was not OK. ... I am all for safe and sensible protest/gathering in these times of COVID but in this case there were blatant inconsistencies in police approach. Thousands of people packed out beaches over the weekend, shopping centres are back open, and that's all fine but we've got ensure that the rules that apply in these circumstances also apply to protests and assembly. The right to assemble and protest is extremely important and it's essential we protect it.

12.01.2022 daily reminder: JOIN YOUR UNION

11.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago I sat down with the incredibly talented Jamarz On Marz who is running a campaign to end policies that racially discriminate against students just because of the way their hair naturally grows. Tonight ABC The Drum is featuring James and his campaign. It starts at 6PM tonight on ABC, if you get a chance make sure you check it out. Rose

11.01.2022 NSW VIC You’re all amazing. Can’t wait to see you soon!

10.01.2022 Where was the #robodebt for companies that evade billions of dollars in taxes every year?

10.01.2022 Wow it seems like last century Premier Berejiklian was getting all the Koala Kudos for staring down those nasty Nats Remember that? It’s hard to keep up in #nswpol sometimes. Actually it was like 3 weeks ago. And actually now it turns out the Libs have quietly been the ones to completely back down. So much for ‘get on board with protecting Koalas or I’ll sack you from Cabinet’. ... In fact The Nats have been entirely successful in exempting substantial land-holdings from rules intended to protect Koalas. I guess in the face of ICAC scandals these things slip under the radar. But don’t be fooled, this is a massive capitulation and will seriously imperil NSW koala populations

07.01.2022 Last night Jamarz On Marz story aired on ABC The Drum. No one should ever be discriminated against - especially not in our schools. James has run an incredible campaign and I back him 100%.

06.01.2022 FACT: Per capita, Australia incarcerates more people in private prisons than anywhere else in the world. FACT: Justice should not be administered through a prism of profit. We wouldn’t accept private police (militia much?!) or private courts. We should not accept private prisons either.

04.01.2022 Pre-emptive ‘sorry I’m away at Parliament all week, again’ dinner. NSW Parliament is using the reserve sitting week for the first time in ages to pass the (COVID delayed) Budget and the Government’s energy roadmap legislation. The energy roadmap isn’t perfect, but at its heart is a solid commitment to renewable energy (which means jobs, economic growth and a clean future) so Labor is supporting it. ... Mark Latham is not. He questions the science of climate change. He is trying to win votes by hysterically attacking anyone who care about it. He’s purple in the face about baseless claims of ‘electricity taxes’ (note: renewables are cheaper than his beloved nuclear power). He is wrong. He had moved 250 (!!) amendments to the energy legislation to try and stop it. Parliament will start sitting at 11am tomorrow. We will sit CONTINUOUSLY until this issue is resolved. That’s right, 24 hours a day, with only occasional short breaks. For how long? Who knows. I’ll be trying to give people an insight into this process as best I can (I may be *slightly* tired) so follow me on Instagram + Twitter on @rosebjackson for updates. Thanks to my amazing husband Sam and family for all the support. You’re the best. Roast lamb says it better than I could

03.01.2022 This statistic is pretty shocking. Our prison system is broken when you're plunged straight back into homelessness when you get out. I spoke about this in Parliament last week ... P.S I wanted to educate myself more on the issues in our prison system so last week I dedicated an episode of my new podcast to it.
