22.01.2022 Greetings from Dharamsala! Since my initial journey to Lo Manthang, where I found a community still living as Tibetans, with panoramic pictures of Lhasa in their lodges rather than of Kathmandu, I have travelled to Tibet where I saw people living under the constant and threatening gaze of the Chinese. I have now come to Dharamsala to visit the Tibetan community in exile. All of these communities look to Tibet, or some remembered vision of Tibet as their true home, but what re...ally is home for them? When I showed our guide in Tibet pictures of Lo Manthang he said, This is Tibet! and vowed if he ever got a passport he would go there. This morning I read that my home town of Bellingen in NSW was extensively vandalised overnight. This is nothing like the Bellingen I remember, where my parents would go away on holidays and leave the house unlocked. There was never trouble of any kind. For me, that place no longer exists; my home town exists only in my memory. Therefore, the question is, what and where is home?
