21.01.2022 Our friends from Karitane are returning on site in fourth term to run the Circle of Security Parenting Program. In the meantime, they're also running a virtual workshop in September for expecting/new parents:

20.01.2022 Vale J. I. Packer.

19.01.2022 We're so grateful for the partnership we've had with Vocational Bible College over the past 3 years:

18.01.2022 Both Rosemeadow Anglican Church and St Mark's Anglican Church in Appin have COVID-19 Safety Plans in place. If you'd like to visit one of our churches at the moment, please send us a FB message beforehand so we can confirm that we've got capacity, and to grab your details for potential contact-tracing.

17.01.2022 Glad to see Equip women is able to run a re-imagined conference this year!

15.01.2022 Our Senior Minister, Brett Hall, is finishing up in January...

15.01.2022 Today, our Senior Minister sent the following letter to the Premier of NSW. Similar letters went to our local MPs, Ryan Park and Paul Scully, and to the only Il...lawarra-based Government Minister, Gareth Ward. The subject line was Equitable COVID Safety Restrictions on Places of Worship +++ Dear Ms Berejiklian, By the grace of God, I hope you are doing OK (or better) in these strange and trying times. Thank you for your parliamentary and public service. I assure you that we continue to pray for you by name, along with our local MPs, the Prime Minister, and the federal and state Chief Medical Officers, as well as for medical and aged care professionals, and society more broadly. We have rung the bell of St Michael's Anglican Cathedral Wollongong, for a minute at midday every Monday and Thursday since before Easter, calling our city to pause and pray, then live-streaming such prayers for our state, nation and world, during the pandemic. I now write to request your urgent attention to and advocacy for an equitable and reasonable easing of severe COVID safety restrictions on churches and other places of worship. As a very strong generalisation, churches, certainly Anglican churches, have been diligent and consistent in applying COVID Safety Plans. I am a frequent user of public transport, and participant in CBD life in Wollongong. I can testify that standards are observed as or more highly and consistently at our church than on public transport, in cafes and restaurants, and in much retail, and other public areas. For example, mask wearing, although not compulsory, continues at almost 100% at our church services, unlike almost everywhere else now. However our services of worship continue to be drastically hamstrung: by the 4m2 rule, by the building limit of 100 persons, and by the ban on singing in church even with masks on. In our Cathedral, under 4m2, our capacity is only 60 people (plus a handful or workers). Only one of our 5 Sunday congregations had an average attendance under 60 prior to COVID. So we do not have enough space to allow everyone to attend. And many people are in two minds about coming if they can't sing their favourite hymns and songs of praise. At least they can sing at home, watching the livestream. But then they miss the fellowship and the social and spiritual good that brings. We have willingly endured all these restrictions on our liberties for the public health good, out of love for our community, which Christ teaches us. However we no longer feel we and other places of worship are being treated equitably, not when the Public Health Order allows: a hospitality venue (like a pub or a restaurant) is allowed to have up to 300 persons inside (cl. 9) a major recreation facility (like a stadium) is allowed attendance of 25% of capacity or 10,000 persons (cl. 13) an entertainment facility (like a cinema or theatre) is allowed up to 1000 persons for ticketed entry (cl. 14) a corporate event is allowed to accept up to 300 persons (cl. 17). Yet church buildings are restricted to 100 max, and often less because of 4m2. There are some differences among these settings, but it is very hard to see why a corporate event where presumably there will be a lot of mingling and networking is likely to be substantially less of a risk than a church service held under social distancing and masked conditions. Nor is it easy to see why a theatre can have several hundred people sitting in designated seats, for an event that lasts one or two hours, but a church can only have a maximum of 100, at an event of similar length, although they too are ushered to socially distanced seating as per our COVID Safety Plan? Nor is it easy to see why allowing up to 300 persons in restaurant eating and drinking without masks is markedly safer than a church service where members would come, face to the front for most of the time, and be socially distanced and wear masks. Our State has experienced minimal community transmission in the last 2-3 weeks. Therefore I echo the concern of our Anglican Archbishop of Sydney, Dr Glenn Davies, who has indicated his... "grave concern that the Government is discriminating against people of faith, because places of public worship are subject to much greater restrictions compared with other public venues." This certainly feels like unjust discrimination to an increasing number of church members, even though we are one of the most peaceable sectors of the community. I urgently request your consideration and advocacy of one or more of the following changes to the Public Health Order in place: 4m2 rule for capacity calculation to be reduced to 2m2, (or even 3m2), and/or Site limit to be lifted to 300, and/or Congregational singing to be permitted with appropriate social distancing (as above) and with masks worn (if still necessary). I eagerly await your response to these concerns and suggestions. With warm regards, Sandy Canon Sandy Grant Senior Minister St Michael's Anglican Cathedral

15.01.2022 Missing Kids Klub? Us too! Yesterday some of the Kids Klub leaders met online to pray for all the kids connected with Kids Klub, and their families. In these times when so much about the future is uncertain, it's great that God is still worth trusting in! You can also keep learning about Jesus in a fun and engaging with Quiz Worx here: https://m.youtube.com/user/QuizWorx

14.01.2022 Our buildings might be closed to the public, but Easter is still on! We thought we'd share our Easter Day sermon from Rev. Brett Hall around for everyone in our community. You'll be able to watch it from 8:30am on Easter Day. The Bible Passage is John 20:24 - 31. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/ You might also enjoy this reflective song, 'Jerusalem' from our friends at CityAlight. It's one of our Easter time favourites: https://youtu.be/wX4ZCHRksBA... http://raachurches.org See more

11.01.2022 We've just heard news that, while not mandatory, the NSW Government has strongly recommended to wear a face mask while attending a place of worship. Accordingly, we've passed word to our congregation members & encouraged everyone to comply - but fortunately, we don't have to turn people away if they haven't got one. Our Senior Minister, Brett, is wearing a mask made by one of our congregation members. https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/face-masks
