21.01.2022 Thought that I would added some more photos taken at Rosewood over recent months as a reminder of the beauty in all things.

17.01.2022 Our Ram Sale Results. We’ve made it through our 8th on-property ram sale run in conjunction with Geoff and Debbie Selmes’ Jerradale Border Leicester Stud. We had a great day! 31 people registered to buy rams and we sold all 81 we had lined-up and more besides. Our top price was $2300 and the sale average was $1543, which is $633 up on last year. Long-time supporters Peter and Faye Southwell bought the beautiful ram who weighs in at 124kg and has been outstanding from birth. ...He weighed 85kg when he was just 5 months old! He’s the son of one of our Rosewood rams. His vital statistics are: Weight 124kg, Index 1362, Eye Muscle Width 103mm, Eye Muscle Depth 48mm for an Eye Muscle Area of 38.07. Peter and Faye purchased 3 other rams to average $1800 for their selection. Volume buyers included Thomas Johnson from Johnson Park Merino Stud who bought 19 rams to a top of $2100 twice to average $1610. Brian and Ben Anderson from Jessmondeen, Crookwell purchased 13 rams to a high of $2200 twice to average $1643. John Webster from Reid’s Flat bought 10 rams to a top of $1700 to average $1410. We are very happy with the results and feedback from returned clients and new buyers acknowledges the quality, consistency and evenness of the whole line-up of rams. Geoff and Debbie also sold all 36 of their rams to a top price of $2100 and an average of $1720. A big thank-you to all the buyers and to our helpers on the day

16.01.2022 Less than a week to go until our Annual Ram Sale. The rams are looking great and the weights and Stockscan results back this up. Even though the season is tough, these are the best rams we have produced and are well worth a look. Both Autumn drop rams (born April 2018) and Spring drop rams (born August 2018) are available. The photos show their size and quality. The sale is on Tuesday 8th October (after the long weekend). Viewing of the stock is from 11am and the sale starts at 1pm. Light refreshments are provided.

15.01.2022 Surprise Deliveries. We are lambing again but this was a bit more than we expected. We know how many lambs a ewe is due to have because we have them scanned. A few mornings ago we checked our ewes at first light and found 4 twin-bearing ewes and 5 single bearing ewes had lambed. In the afternoon we bought them into the stud shed as usual to make sure all was going well and to weigh and document their details. This was finished after dark and, on doing one final check to ensur...e the ewes had the correct lambs because some lambs do go walk-about sometimes; we were surprised to discover that one of the ewes had just popped another out. She had had two big (6.01kg and 5.48kg) lambs during the night and about 13 hours later had produced another good sized lamb. As ewes only have 2 teats, raising triplets is difficult for them to do well. Knowing that a single-scanned ewe had been showing signs of being about to lamb but could not be coaxed down to the shed earlier, we trudged up the paddock to check on her progress. She had successfully dropped her lamb and by carrying the lamb 10 paces and then letting her lick it again, we managed to cover the km to the stud shed. We put the new-born triplet in with the single lamb and, as they were both still wet, by rubbing them together to transfer scent we managed to convince the ewe that they were both hers. Having congratulated ourselves on this we were about to leave again when we discovered that the ewe had dropped a fourth lamb!!! She had carried nearly 24kg of lambs! Fortunately we managed to foster the fourth lamb to another ewe the next day. See more

14.01.2022 A few photos of the rams for sale at our on-property auction. The rams on offer have tremendous length, as well as depth combined with great musculing throughout the carcass with focus on the loin and hind quarters.

13.01.2022 Just been down to video the combined Autumn and Winter sale rams. It shows that they are in great condition and ready to work.

10.01.2022 Update on the Quads We had them in the yards when they were 5 weeks old. They are all doing really well. Mum and the foster Mums are doing a great job.

08.01.2022 It’s time again for our annual Poll Dorset sale held in conjunction with Jerradale Border Leicester stud. You are invited to view the sheep from 11am and the auction will start at 1pm. Viewing of rams by appointment prior to auction day is welcomed. We will have 81 Poll Dorset rams for sale and Jerradale will have 36 Border Leicester rams for sale. Due to Covid19 restrictions could you please contact us or Delta Agribusiness or Nutrien / Landmark as the selling agents, if you are planning to attend? We also ask you to use the hand-sanitiser provided and maintain social distancing. Light refreshments will be provided within the COVID19 guidelines.

06.01.2022 Meet Moses This is Moses at 1-day old with her (poetic licence!) mum, and she is very lucky to have made it this far. Moses’ mother decided to give birth on a narrow track between the base of a 5-metre-high cliff and the creek. On dusk we were doing a final check of the lambing ewes to make sure we had collected all that had lambed that day. As I was leaving the area I heard a ewe in distress calling her lamb and then heard the lamb. Looking over the edge of the cliff I coul...d see the ewe but no lamb. When I climbed down the rocks I could again hear the lamb. There was a break in the reeds and there, neck deep in the water, was Moses (hence the name!). She had decided to try swimming before walking. As I reached down to grab the lamb her mum bunted me and I nearly joined Moses in the creek. Fortunately, Moses and I both survived, minutes later and she would have drowned. When dry she weighed in at 8.11kg so we definitely would not want to have lost her. See more

04.01.2022 We bought a drone to check our sheep, especially our recently lambing ewes. They seem to have got used to it! Rebates to encourage farmers to purchase a drone to reduce the use of quad bikes is part of the NSW Quad Bike Safety Improvement Program.
