23.01.2022 Exciting News for Surfers Patrons - a limited night outreach service returns to Surfers this week just in time for winter! We would love to see our friends again at St Vincent’s from 7.30pm - 8.30pm on Monday night and in Southport on Thursday night. Hot and cold drinks and snacks will be available - along with conversation and connection. All attending must adhere to social distancing and hand sanitising protocols at all times. And don’t worry - we have plenty of hand sanitiser! A warm welcome back to our new, shorter outreach this week.

18.01.2022 Stronger Together Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible - Saint Francis of Assisi. As our head office is now running remotely, all calls are diverted to a mobile. We are working hard to establish innovative ways to continue to support our friends, volunteers, and the wider community. ... We thank you all for your patience during these difficult times.

18.01.2022 Our apologies everyone, Gold Coast outreaches this Friday and Saturday night have been cancelled.

15.01.2022 We hope that this Easter season is one of HOPE for all within the Rosies family. There are many people within our society who find it difficult to belong, to be included and to matter. HOPE is offered to all through Jesus’ love of us. Please reach out to others (in a safe way) and try to never worry alone for Easter asks us to believe that whatever obstacle is put in front of us, the power behind us is even greater. May the Easter season nourish your spirit of hope, nurture your sense of connection with family and friends and provide impetus to your outreach to others. Take care, stay safe and Happy Easter.

14.01.2022 The Covid-19 outbreak continues to spread across Australian communities and particularly impact the health of the vulnerable and older Australians. In order to ensure the safety and well-being of our patrons, volunteers, staff and supporters, and to assist in slowing the spread of Covid-19, Rosies will temporarily suspend services as of yesterday. This has been a difficult decision as our desire is to be physically present to our Friends on the street. During this period of t...ime, Rosies will continue to monitor the situation and take advice from the Government regarding social distancing. We will also be exploring alternative strategies to assist our Friends (patrons). If anyone you know is experiencing distress please let them know there are a number of services they can still contact: - Lifeline: 13 11 14 - Mensline Australia: 1300 789 978 - Kids Help Line: 1900 551 800 - Police and Ambulance: 000 - 1800RESPECT (domestic violence counselling line): 1800 737 732 Rosies will endeavour to provide regular updates as the situation continues to unfold. Please take a moment to reflect and pray the Rosies prayer thinking of Rosies mission and our friends in need during this difficult and challenging time. O Jesus, make our hearts so human that others may feel at home with us So like Yours that others may feel at home with You So forgetful of self that we might simply become the place where You and they meet In the power of Your love and the joy of Your friendship. Amen

14.01.2022 ROSIES HAS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED SERVICES see post below

13.01.2022 A Heart so Human Staying Connected and Staying Safe. Rosies to Contribute Messages of Gratitude for Frontline Health Workers. While the COVID-19 era might have closed many doors, Rosies has been working in collaboration with Iona College in opening many hearts. Rosies and Iona are working together to support frontline healthcare workers with vital Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) mask frames and personal messages of gratitude and support. Production has commenced and t...hrough Iona’s 3D printers, an estimated 15,000 mask frames will be created and distributed to Metro Health. Within each bundle of 10 frames will be a personal handwritten message of a grateful heart. The Rosies prayer makes special mention of the heart, making hearts so human that others will feel at home with us. While Rosies core mission of presence has had to be necessarily altered during the COVID-19 era to keep everyone safe, we are inviting all members of the Rosies community to prepare a message of gratitude, support and love to our healthcare workers on the frontline as part of our mission of human connection. Through the Oblates, Rosies and Iona bring together the mission and charism of St Eugene de Mazenod who indicated that when charity and love were requiring new needs, we invent new means. All Rosies community members are needed for this expression of a grateful heart and you are invited to handwrite messages of any length. Further information and detail coming soon. The Rosies Prayer fully reflects the values of both Rosies and Iona College. O Jesus, Make our hearts so human, That others may feel at home with us, So like yours, That others may feel at home with you So forgetful of self That we might simply become the place where you and they meet In the power of your love and the joy of your friendship Amen More Rosies initiatives are being developed and we look forward to sharing those with you as time unfolds.
