20.01.2022 So far, 2020 has been prodigious for Rosman Cruises. We increased our fleet capacity to four heritage vessels, with the re-launch of Radar following an extensive 3-year restoration. We have partnered with the Biennale of Sydney, offering an immersive experience in collaboration with BE Collective, under the guise of NIRIN HAIVETA. And thanks to the support of our incredible clients, we had our strongest summer on record, which has allowed us to make the most of the recent down-time and get our ferries ship-shape and in pristine condition. The bridal couple were looking to transport 200 wedding guests from Circular Quay to Sergeants Mess in comfort and style; and the 1947 built Proclaim complemented their wedding theme perfectly. We were thrilled to be a part of their special day!

18.01.2022 A true icon of Sydney Harbour and the mother of the Rosman fleet, Radar was built in 1946. Radar has a strong social connection with Sydney Harbour and for decades she plied routes along the Parramatta and Lane Cove rivers, and was the spectator ferry for the Sydney Flying Squadron 18-foot skiff races. The spectator ferries were periodically raided by the Gaming Squad on suspicion of harbouring illegal gambling activities, and in 1972, Radar became the first Sydney ferry to be granted a liquor licence. 16.01.2022 "On Friday, I experienced a fantastic moment on board Radar, the boat hosting Graces community project. I lost the Biennale crowd and found myself near the boat. She invited me to come onboard with the communities and attend the dances. The Tonga/Samoa dances and songs brought me to tears. Ok maybe I was jet lagged, tired and emotional but this was truly so powerful. Its like it touched my soul. And the Cook Islands... the sounds and rhythms were similar to the music of my ...ethnic group in Cameroon. Seeing the young dancers reminded me of the notion of cultural transmission, which is something that I am addressing in my sound art projects with my Cameroonian heritage. 16.01.2022 Incredible precision work by Noakes Group to install the massive 4-tonne Gardiner engine in Radar, just prior to her launch in March. Radar will be returning to service soon as a feature of the Biennale of Sydney, as an immersive experience in collaboration with artist Grace Dlabik, whose vision is portrayed on the skin of the vessel. Throughout the exhibition, Radar will be referred to as Haiveta, and pays homage to the richness of Pasifika women's markings, a tradition passed down through generations which has been disrupted through the effects of colonisation and the impact of missionaries inflicting shame for sacred practices. For me, and for Noakes Group, this project is inclusive of a variety of di...fferent cultures, and to connect with First Nations communities in our region is an important project for us. On top of this, the art of boat building is incredibly valuable to our history. So to us, vessels like Radar are alive; theyre living, and they have personality. Given that Radar is over 73 years old, the original artisans that built her are no longer with us. We are now seeing a new generation of artisans making their mark and changing history. Robs passion of driving ferries has seen him become a stalwart on the Harbour for over 20 years.
