25.01.2022 To most of our patients the lovely Rosanne will be a familiar and friendly face. We have had the pleasure of having Rosanne with us for 16 years as a qualified and experienced optical dispenser. Rosanne has a wealth of knowledge in optics. She enjoys helping patients find a personalised solution to their eyecare needs. With her caring nature she is able to find what works best for patients. Away from work Rosanne enjoys fashion design and sewing, craft, reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
25.01.2022 This week is World Glaucoma Week, a global initiative of the World Glaucoma Association (WGA) aimed at raising awareness on glaucoma. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness, but with early treatment, the damage may get limited and sight may be saved. By promoting regular testing, we also want glaucoma patients to get their relatives involved, as the chances of them getting glaucoma are 10 times higher than someone with no glaucoma history in their close family environment.
25.01.2022 Merry Xmas everyone! Thank you for your support over the crazy year that 2020 was!! Enjoy the break and we'll see you in the New Year! xx
24.01.2022 The greatest 3-point shooter in NBA history has struggled with a condition of the cornea called keratoconus his whole life. Keratoconus is a disease which causes the cornea to gradually deteriorate over time, changing it to a cone shape rather than a circular shape. The condition can also lead to blurred vision. https://www.foxsports.com.au//60083258fd62cb214ec35c4f8b40

23.01.2022 Our practice is operating as usual. We have implemented a number of additional safety and sanitising measures to ensure that our practice is a safe and clean environment for you and our staff. To find out more call us on 5578-4611 or email [email protected]
22.01.2022 TO ALL OUR PATIENTS: Weve always considered our practice to be neat and clean. In fact we pride ourselves on it. A lot of the sanitizing we do happens behind the scenes, and before and after each consultation. Due to current health concerns please dont be surprised to see more of this cleaning occurring whilst you are visiting us. WHAT CAN YOU DO? Besides the recommendation of regular hand washing, we are asking if you have a fever or flu-like symptoms, or recent internatio...nal travel, please let us know and postpone your appointment a few weeks. We will still be here to look after you then, and the patients who visit us in the interim as well as our staff will appreciate your thoughtfulness. The Team at Rosser Optometry xx See more

15.01.2022 GETTING CONTACT LENSES IN 1948 WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING!!! You may be reading this wearing a pair of disposable contact lenses, but spare a thought for the poor pioneers of contact lenses in the 1940s. By then, contacts had been on the market for about a decade, and was made from the thinnest and clearest material available at the time - GLASS!! Youd be pretty stoic putting up with these....luckily nowadays contact wearing and fitting is nothing like this!... https://youtu.be/XXu5dFS7KXQ See more

15.01.2022 Vision may be the real cause of childrens problems: Visual processing is about how the brain perceives and processes the impressions of the eyes. Problems with processing visual impressions can also impact a variety of other skills. Weve confirmed that visual processing may apply to dyslexia, but also to why some children have problems with mathematics and motor skills, says Professor Hermundur Sigmundsson at the Norwegian University of Science and Technologys (NTNU) Dep...artment of Psychology. In addition, problems with visual processing may explain why some dyslexics respond more slowly when driving a car, at least as has been shown to be the case in a driving simulator. Clear connection: A research group from NTNU compared two groups, described in a new article in Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research. One group consisted of the top ten percent of performers on a test that is often used to determine whether an individual has dyslexia, and the other group consisted of the ten percent who struggled the most on the test. In total, the researchers surveyed almost 200 people. They used two different computer programs to test the participants. One program checked how efficient the brain is at detecting movement or rapid changes in the surroundings, while the control task was to find a figure hidden in a pattern. We found a clear difference between the two groups with high or low literacy in their ability to perceive movement, says Sigmundsson. This strengthens previous findings that have pointed in the same direction. The researchers found no difference between the groups in their ability to solve the control task with figures that included shape and color. Researchers at NTNU have previously linked dyscalculia, which is when a person has problems solving mathematical problems, to visual processing. The same connection applies to motor difficulties in children. https://neurosciencenews.com/child-vision-problems-15603/
15.01.2022 Now that we are coming into the Queensland summer it's time to look at protecting your eyes. Too much exposure to UV can contribute to eye disease and damage. Have you considered using your optical extras for sunglasses in your prescription?

12.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone! Face masks will be with us for the next few weeks so here are some handy tips to avoid fogging up your lenses! - Make sure your glasses sit over your mask. - Use a folded tissue aligned inside the top of the mask to prevent warm air from rising up and creating condensation on your lenses. - Wash your lenses with soapy water and shake off the excess liquid, then allow them to air dry or gently wipe them off with a soft cloth. The thin film that the soap leaves behind will act as a fog barrier.
11.01.2022 Wishing everyone a Happy Easter. Stay local and stay healthy. Despite the challenging times its nice to appreciate how lucky we are to live in Australia.

It also gives us a permanent record for your file, which allows us compare future images for any subtle changes.
