25.01.2022 Our wonderful Rostrata Craft Group have been busy making the most exquisite quilts to donate to the I Spy Quilts for Foster Children project organised by Soroptimist International Fremantle. This week the group handed their beautiful donations over to Lynne from Soroptimist International Fremantle and Yvonne from The Teddy Tree in Mt Hawthorn, who donated much of the material used to create the quilts. Well done to the Rostrata Craft Group members Jan, Ros, Margaret, Theresa, Karen, Carol-Ann along with help and support of other Rostrata Craft Group members. Well done ladies!!

21.01.2022 As part of the Connect in Canning initiative Kangatraining Canningvale have kindly offered free weekly online postnatal fitness classes for mums in the community who may need some extra support and are looking to stay more socially connected during this time. Kangatraining is a fitness class designed for postnatal women where mums can safely return to exercise, strengthen their core muscles and pelvic floor while listening to music and having a dance. Connect in Canning are... working with Kangatraining Canningvale to help community particularly isolated or new mothers. If you are interested in connecting with Joanna @ Kangatraining, or know of a new mum who needs some support or could benefit from finding out more about joining her Zoom classes, please reach out to [email protected] or call 1300 422 664.

21.01.2022 Currently we are not able to run our playgroup in person due to COVID-19, so we have been running weekly ZOOM sessions during our playgroup time-slot, supplemented by some wonderful craft activity videos put together by our amazing Playgroup Support Worker Shinee! These craft activities are designed to use items commonly found in the home. Check our our Rostrata Playgroup Willetton facebook page each week to join in with Shinees craft activity :)

19.01.2022 EVENT CANCELLED We are again partnering with Early Birds Pre-Kindy to bring you a community information session called Bullying in a Cyberworld. Presented by Communicare Parenting and Families this session is for parents of children aged 4-17 and will cover aspects of Cyberbullying, signs to watch out for, and what you can do to help your child. 18.01.2022 A HUGE Thankyou to everyone who donated to our collection for the It’s in the Bag campaign run by Share the Dignity. From all your wonderful donations, we were able to put together 45 bags overflowing with essential items, as well as lovely gifts, jewellery and skincare products. We dropped them all of at Bunnings Willetton, where this week they have gone on to be handed out to women in need this Christmas. Well done to you all for your generous support Share the Dignity #itsinthebag

16.01.2022 Hello Everyone! If you are ready to get out and about but not sure where to go or what to do, we are re-commencing our Coffee, Chat & Chill coffee morning tomorrow at 10:30am-12:30pm. All are welcome. Come along for a cuppa and a chat, bring a neighbour or friend. Covid Safety Management Plan in place for safety of all participants. We look forward to seeing you there :)

16.01.2022 Lately there has been a huge increase in the amount of scams doing the rounds, and the amount of money being lost due to phishing scams. We want to help keep our community safe from scams. To stay safe, people should avoid clicking links in emails or text messages, instead sourcing their own websites or phone numbers for the companies or government departments supposedly contacting them. Also talk to family and friends, this dramatically reduces the risk of getting caught by a scam. Check out whats doing the rounds on the Scamwatch website.

15.01.2022 It has been 1 year since we started our Rostrata Actives 65+ exercise program at the centre! Today we celebrated with cake and the wonderful people who make our program so successful, our Zumba Gold Instructor Ann, our Community Connector Julie, and all the wonderful Zumba Gold ladies (and gents!) This year has been so much fun watching you all get down on a Friday morning at Zumba Gold, Tai Chi on a Tuesday, and our two yoga classes Active Neighbourhoods for Older Australians Zumba Gold with Ann - Perth Perth Tai Chi Academy Yoga in Daily Life

10.01.2022 Australian Breastfeeding Association - South Eastern Suburbs are holding free online New Mothers Groups for new mums as part of the City of Canning Connect in Canning Initiative. These online groups run over 4 weeks and cover a range of topics for new mothers and their babies.

06.01.2022 For the past 16 days all Rostrata Family & Neighbourhood centre staff & volunteers have been taking part in the 16 Days in WA campaign, wearing their Stop The Violence badges, provoking thought, questions, and conversations. We ended the campaign today by wearing orange. Now in its fourth year, 16 Days in WA draws inspiration from the global movement for 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence to drive a change in culture, behaviour and attitudes that lead to violen...ce against women and their children. Together we can shine a light and make a difference. #16DaysInWA

03.01.2022 Hip hip hooray!! Its our 30th birthday today!! 30 years ago today the Rostrata Family & Neighbourhood Centre was officially opened by Dr Carmen Lawrence, then Premier of Western Australia. We would have loved to have had Dr Lawrence back at the centre this week to celebrate our 30th Anniversary, but we will just have to put our celebrations on hold for the time being. Thank you to all our groups, friends, neighbours, centre users and staff (current and past) for making our centre the wonderful place it is.
