25.01.2022 Meeting 2828- Started with a wonderful Icebreaker from Peter M on the favorite bird (aside from the hen that is served on the dinner table). We had Tom who told us about the history and importance of Rotary that works to provide humanitarian service throughout the world. Stephanie talked about Isabella Bird who was a traveler and not a tourist (click the link to know more about her interesting travel tales https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isabella_Bird). Last but not the least, we had Peter W, Robin, and Paul who spoke their hearts out with true passion and enthusiasm. #Rostrum_Club9 #PublicSpeaking

17.01.2022 TIP OF THE DAY: About to read in public? Examine your reading again! Are there slurred words, a rushed sentence or are you reading too fast? Write notes in the margin and then read it to see if it has improved. (Courtesy of club member, Peter Martindale)

12.01.2022 Apparently a fun day was had by all at the Kangaroo Creek home of Club 9 Member Richard Wishart. It involved tennis, conviviality, food and beer, from what we can make out.

10.01.2022 TIP OF THE DAY: If youre planning to read in public, heres something that might help: Polish your skill by practicing! Read from childrens books to stress the important points...and identify your improvements. Youll be surprised by the difference this makes. (Courtesy of club member, Peter Martindale)

10.01.2022 TIP OF THE DAY: If youre planning to read in public, heres another great idea: Observe others. Watch other good readers for ideas and TV shows where they read for the little people. Play School is a good example. (Courtesy of club member, Peter Martindale)

09.01.2022 Meet Atharva Samon, our newest member. He was literally born with a boom. It might have been a coincidence that there was a considerable seismic activity when he was born, but Atharva has something else to say. Here he is, just a few moments before his Sitting Duck Exercise.

08.01.2022 Ladies and Gentlemen, we introduce you to one of the most notable speakers of our club, Christine. A lawyer by profession, Christine remains busy, but still finds time for our weekly meetings. She has been a member of Rostrum Club 9 about 7 years. Recently, she filled in the shoes of Coach Andrew in his absence and provided outstanding comments at the end of the meeting. In her own words, "Club 9 has provided a safe learning environment. For example, I have learnt through practice how to introduce people, chair meetings, and give better speeches. However, the greatest benefit of all - is the fellowship."

07.01.2022 Meeting 2830- One hour and we discussed Australia, India, Hong-Kong, China, and France. We talked about Peters experience in the Army and we discussed Christmas Plans. To experience such fun and jolly meetings and to improve your public speaking skills, join us every Tuesday at the Hotel Metropolitan from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm. #Rostrum #Rostrm_Club9 #PublicSpeaking Rostrum Club 26 Rostrum SA/NT Wangaratta Rostrum Club 67 Rostrum Club 18, Adelaide, South Australia Rostrum Club 33 Rostrum Club 23 Rostrum Club 22

06.01.2022 Every Tuesday we are entertained by a range of speakers and some of the presentations are downright inspiring! Here is just example, from past president Robin Genders: (read on!)... JOY OF NATURE A speech by Robin Genders, delivered at Club 9 on 18th February 2014 As you grow older you realise that many things, which we have taken for granted as being instinctive are, in fact, learned or acquired. Parenthood is a fine example if our parents have given us a good practical ...Continue reading

04.01.2022 With a very heavy heart, we would like to announce the demise of one of the most prolific members of our club, Peter Martindale. Peter passed away last week. Peter has mentored many of us in our Public Speaking journeys and right to the end he was trying to start new Rostrum clubs. He will be greatly missed by his family, a great many friends, and colleagues in the many organizations in which he served. He tirelessly served Rostrum with distinction including a term as SA/NT Zone President. Rest in Peace Peter! #Rostrum #Rostrm_Club9 #PublicSpeaking Rostrum Club 26 Rostrum SA/NT Wangaratta Rostrum Club 67 Rostrum Club 18, Adelaide, South Australia, Rostrum Club 33 Rostrum Club 23 Rostrum Club 22

03.01.2022 Great to be back and a great meeting. Roger spoke very humorously about the litigious world of "negligence". Its always somebodys fault, so sue them! He has an antidote - a microchip to make us nearly perfect! Michael told us about the fastest white man (Peter Norman, an Australian), whose record at the 1968 Olympics still stands today. He told us how Norman was almost airbrushed from history for supporting the African Americans in their protest against racialism in the U.S. Christine, in her first-ever job as coach was terrific. She commented on the effectiveness of the "power of three." Shell do it all again in two weeks time.

01.01.2022 TIP OF THE DAY: Research. Know how to pronounce the words and write them out phonetically if you may struggle. (Courtesy of club member, Peter Martindale)

01.01.2022 Come join us! We warmly welcome visitors of all curiosities. :D
