20.01.2022 Time to talk...club structure Our governance is based upon a collaborative and supportive culture, represented here with a circle. Because our club members are the centre and lifeblood of the club, they are the focal point of all decision making. We have six board members who all have a particular role in supporting members to make positive change.... Would anyone like to see some interviews with current members on this channel?

17.01.2022 Our secretary Izzy has been keeping busy by watching a lot of Korean shows on Netflix. Few of her favourites are Crash Landing on You, Vagabond, The King: Eternal Monarch, Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung. Her "official" reason for watching them is to practice her elementary understanding of Korean (very basic!), but more broadly its a great reward system to counter uni and work each day. Izzy is also a model (dont take any group pictures standing next to her) and likes keeping... fit. Her aim is to do 10km on the treadmill a day if she can. Exercise makes her feel a lot more balanced, happy and is her best coping mechanism. What's have you been binge watching lately?

16.01.2022 Productive meetings We were super excited to get together as a club for the first time since changeover! A big welcome to old faces and new ones.

09.01.2022 Sincere condolences from the Rotaract Club of Sandy Bay, and thoughts with friends and family

06.01.2022 Long overdue.. We finally inducted Ishita into our "misfit dysfunctional family who want to do good at heart" All our member also know now to call on other members (who know nothing about car mechanics) if they are stuck in the middle of the highway

06.01.2022 Socially distant but virtually connected Going online has also given us the opportunity to connect with Emily who is in America.

06.01.2022 What a successful day! We recently ran a litter clean up along some pathways and tracks in New Town, with a total of 30kg waste collected in just 2 hours. Who wants to see more of these events happening?

05.01.2022 Whenever we start a meeting we always go around the table talking about how our week was, something new, or exciting that happened to us. Unfortunately we can't have physical meetings anymore but we still check up on eachother and share stories of our week and how we're keeping positive. This is what President Brian had to say about how he maintains his positivity ... "I gain much of my calm and happiness from routines. I really need them, particularly in times of high stress.(such as recent times!) Small things that i can look forward to everyday. I'm not really one for spontanetiy if I'm being honest!. So most nights I go outside to my hammock and I read. Only for about half an hour. Tonight I listened to: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BeI6an1Fy6E And it was nice . Tonight was extra special, as it was raining . It's nice to just be present reading and forget about everything, if only for a little while ." Share something positive that happened to you this week or tips on how you keep happy and relaxed? Stay tuned for more member stories and stay safe everyone.

05.01.2022 We were super excited to have the lovely Shanel officially inducted into our club at our Nov general meeting

05.01.2022 RA has brought us a podcast!

04.01.2022 Welcoming our newest four members at our October general meeting a few weeks back!

04.01.2022 We had a great experience face-mask making last Thursday during our social night. Our idea was to make some reusable masks to support Victorians in need during the pandemic. We followed the Victorian Government guide for making cloth masks; we made two samples with different sizes and estimated the time for making each mask. Our members Yan and Meng took charge to coordinate the event, preparing the water resistant cloths, non-woven fabric, needles, thread and more. We receiv...ed some cloth, needle and thread donations from a kind-hearted lady Lynley, who heard about our idea and was happy to support. Lynley is the mother of a Rotary exchange student with Rotary Club of Sandy Bay. Thank you so much Lynley! Ten of our club members and potential members took part to make the masks. Most of us had never done sewed before so it was a learning experience as well. We made 15 finished masks, while having fun developing new skills and contributing to community! We plan to run another night soon to make more masks with the rest of the material.

02.01.2022 Recap of our club activities during Mental Health Week in Tasmania Some members journeyed up to the Table Cape Tulip Farm, while others collaborated with the Rotary Club of Sandy Bay to #liftthelidonmentalillness @ausrotaryhealth Remember, it doesn’t have to be #mentalhealthweek or #mentalhealthday for you to start/keep prioritising the mental health of yourself and those around you

02.01.2022 Wow. What a truly wonderful day . Today was our Fresh Food For Familes event, or as we have been calling it, our community gardening day. And that's what this day was, it was a day for community. It was a day of coming together to share a sense of family and welcomeness; which is truly at the heart of a Sandy Bay Rotaracter . The Rotaract Club of Sandy Bay is over-joyed and honored to have hosted families from the Hobartian Thai community in a day of learning how to sustai...nably grow and harvest vegetables within a Tasmanian context. Activities ranged from discussions of pollination guides to planting vegetables, garden bed preparation and care . The success of this day would not have been at all possible without our amazing allies of our club . A special shout-out to Kate and Una from Hobart Rotary, who's unconditional support and mentorship knows no bounds. Thankyou for everything; it means more to us than you could ever know. We'd also like to thank the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart for their generous catering donation and the West Moonah Community Centre for embracing us with open arms . Finally, we'd like to recognize one of our own, Bashi. Who's dedication, passion and warmth through all trials and tribulations made this day possible .

02.01.2022 Photos from our changeover in July! In the last pic, our president Akhile explains his focus and direction for the club. Special thanks to our resident photographer @richard.siu.photography

01.01.2022 Last night our members Yan, Dan and Brian attended the Rotary Club of Sandy Bay's World Peace and Understanding Dinner . Roatarcters attend this event every year, and (as usual!) it was thoroughly informative, enjoyable and superbly organized! It was also announced last night that we will be co sponsoring with Sandy Bay a Skyhydrant to be sent to Bhutan under a 2020 Disaster Aid Australia initiative! We so value our relationship with our sponsor club and are excited to shar...e this oppurtunity . Our members are pictured below with a skyhydrant and flanked by current Sandy Bay president Graham and treasuer Marion (aka mum and dad) Well done to Sandy Bay Rotary on another wonderful night of promoting peace and understanding in our community . We look forward to next year!
