25.01.2022 Rotarians cooking breakfast with the Lion's Club this morning. A good way to celebrate 100 years of Rotary in Australia.

24.01.2022 December 2019 Dorothy Patton our guest speaker gave a history and update of the Queen Mary Botanical Gardens. After Dorothy spoke Greg was able to announce that Bayswater Rotary have donated $7000 for bench seats for the new development.

22.01.2022 Tell me more about this Geocaching!!!

20.01.2022 We just had our second zoom board meeting. We are getting better at this.

15.01.2022 My morning exercise is sometimes a walk out to View Point. It's a lovely spot 3 km or so from the centre of St Arnaud and there's the direction finder with our Rotary symbol on it 1959. Great project though it is looking a little unloved. Not sure what it needs but it fits in well with our focus on bike paths and walking tracks during COVID 19.

13.01.2022 Past President Rohan heading off to a gala shindig at the St Arnaud Bowling Club tonight. Our local Lions Club is having their Changeover Night. President Garry will also be there to join in the fun & frivolity and no doubt they will have a delicous dinner too. Guessing there will be some fines coming their way.

11.01.2022 The working Bee was held last Tuesday evening with the assistance of John Kell (Undertaker). The seats look great, constructed from steel and timber from the recently sold Saleyards off Kell Rd. The timber is well seasoned as the yards were constructed by men during the 1975 RED Scheme created by the Labour Government of the day under Gough Whitlam during drought conditions. Rotarian Greg Fithall was just 1 of the farmers employed under the scheme.

09.01.2022 Well Facebook is up and running again. How does Rotary make a difference in the pandemic? How do we connect? Can we use Facebook to make a difference?

08.01.2022 Great meeting last night at the Farmers with guests Bo Weiland and Maja Weiland. Bo is President of Falkenberg-Herting Rotary Club, Sweden. Bo's year as President is coming to an end but he is busy writing a children's book about Christmas. Thanks for joining us last night Bo & Maja, please visit again. http://www.rotary.se/falkenberg-h/about-us/presidents-page/

08.01.2022 As clubs make decisions about meeting face to face, and choose to move online, to chat apps, emails and bulletins to keep connected, this graphic shows why we are doing it. (Credit to Mike Bragg for pic). We can do this

08.01.2022 Next Meeting: Fireside Dinner, 6.30pm, Tuesday, 14 June. Ph John 5495 1374 for details.

07.01.2022 Congratulations

05.01.2022 Catering for the Geocaching Mega Event in St Arnaud was a highlight of 2019. 2020 looks like it will be a much quieter year. Lets see what we can get happening on line.

05.01.2022 Photos taken by President Heather at Tuesday nights working bee at the St.Arnaud Cemetery. The timbers on the seats are from the St Arnaud Saleyards-back in 1975 the RED Scheme was set up during the Whitlam Government to employ local farmers & men seeking work & gaining building skills during the drought in the 70s. Rotarians dismantled a section of the saleyards after the sale to Pickthall Transport. Some of the timber was used for the amazing bridge construction by Rotarians on the Lexel Creek Project. Currently, for this project, we are constructing the seats with the timber, and 4 will be placed in position around the Cemetery. The usual expert Rotarian construction team was on duty-John, Alan, Greg, & President Elect Garry.

03.01.2022 Tonight we had visiting speakers Jeanette Etherington and Claire Holt from Interplast. Interplast sends teams of volunteer plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anesthetists, nurses and allied health professionals to provide life changing surgery and medical training in 17 countries. The amazing news is that during the Pandemic they have had to rely on helping the in country doctors through training and operations by internet and this has seen 10 more countries become involved in the program and the medical staff in these countries become more experienced and confident. They are also helping medical staff train to deal with COVID19 testing treatment. This is a worthwhile organisation to support.
