22.01.2022 District Conference Speaker John Andrew Henry Forrest, nicknamed Twiggy, is an Australian businessman. He is best known as the former CEO and current non-executive chairman of Fortescue Metals Group (FMG), but also has interests elsewhere in the mining industry and in cattle stations. The Forrests are two of Australia’s most generous philanthropists and have 40 active philanthropic partnerships. They were the first Australian signatories to Bill and Melinda Gates’ The Giving Pledge, promising to distribute the majority of their wealth to charitable causes in their lifetime. Most of their giving is done through their philanthropic organisation, the Minderoo Foundation, named after the Pilbara cattle station Andrew grew up on. The Minderoo Foundation focusses on education and indigenous Australians.
21.01.2022 Rotary Club Changeover Dinner - 2020 An official dinner with formalities and officials was held (numbers according to current restrictions) with the majority of club members attending smaller dinner parties and logging in with Zoom. We welcome new President Michael and First Lady Janette with his committee, while farewelling Past President Rod and First Lady Margaret. ... Our Club is proud to sponsor The Network Club (Satellite Club of Toowoomba Garden City) and also The Rotaract Club of Toowoomba -- both very dynamic clubs. We were delighted a number of the executives from both these clubs joined our changeover. Let's all just go with the flow in 2020 - it certainly will be a year not easily forgotten the world over - however we are so fortunate to live in Australia
19.01.2022 Congratulations to our newest member, Jacquie Roberts, whose husband Gav Roberts is also a Rotarian and member of the Rotary Club of Toowoomba East. Michael Kaiser (President) and Jacquie
18.01.2022 In 2019, Amanda Dalton, CEO of Toowoomba Women’s Collective, was instrumental in establishing Protea Place, which provides a safe day space for women to connect to practical supports, where they can receive holistic care under one roof. Amanda’s presentation generated great interest among members, with some discussing how they may be able to assist by volunteering their time or donating household goods and furniture. 17.01.2022 Rotary International’s Strategic Plan is an ACTION PLAN, which will help everyone to understand what is truly possible when People of Action unite, connect with others who share their values, and commit to creating change in the world and within ourselves.
17.01.2022 Digging and selling Aggies - never ending requests from Claire for more Aggies - even when she is away. Happy to see the morning tea standard is being upheld. Thanks to my best customer Helen @Royal Hotel Toowoomba

15.01.2022 Our club is hosting a Strategic Planning Workshop and Celebration Dinner this Saturday 1st August. We have 22 members (85%) attending, as well as 3 members of The Network and Gareth Lloyd, President of the Toowoomba Rotaract Club. Wendy Protheroe (DGE), will be our speaker for the first part of the program, but will stay for the remainder of the workshop sessions and dinner as well. I am certain that her knowledge, skills and experience in Rotary, Zonta and the business community will greatly assist us in planning for the future of our club. Looking forward to a great day - thanks President Michael Kaiser @Rotary Satellite Club of Toowoomba Garden City - The Network @Rotaract Club of Toowoomba Inc
15.01.2022 It’s a special time. Rotary in Australia and New Zealand celebrates the First 100 Years of Service in 2021. Districts 9600 & 9630 will be jointly holding a R100 Lunch in Brisbane. In Toowoomba, all Clubs plan to reflect on our impact over the last 100 years (90 years in the case of the Rotary Club of Toowoomba) by taking on a significant project which will create a legacy that propels Rotary into the next century of service. I wish to thank Peter Snow, who has volunteered to represent our club on the Cluster Committee. As a Club we also have an opportunity to celebrate this milestone. So, what will be our R100 Project or Celebration? Be ready to share your ideas on Friday! Your Club Board meets the second Monday of every month. You are always welcome to attend.
13.01.2022 Rod Morris - our newest Paul Harris Fellow. The Paul Harris Fellow was established in 1957 in honour of Rotary’s founder, in appreciation of a contribution of US $1000 to the humanitarian and educational programs of The Rotary Foundation. PP Rodney James Morris, is being recognised as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Toowoomba Garden City,... for the ways in which his life exemplifies the humanitarian and educational objectives of the Rotary Foundation. On behalf of the Club, we thank Rod for his commitment to Rotary and for helping persons in need around the globe. The last 12 months have been challenging to say the least, but his dedication to the Rural Bushfire Brigade in NSW and Qld over the last 20 years, and also leading our club through the Covid19 Pandemic, is being acknowledged and truly appreciated. ADG Alistair Webb, on behalf of the Trustee of The Rotary Foundation, presented the emblems of a Paul Harris Fellow to Rod during our Virtual Changeover on Thursday 25 June. Please congratulate and recognise the newest Paul Harris Fellow.

11.01.2022 During her presentation to members at last week’s meeting, District Governor, Patrice Robinson, challenged us as members to embrace our future and to keep Rotary not only relevant but thriving. Patrice introduced a number of concepts currently under discussion including supporting social enterprise and associate Rotary membership. Recently, Stephen Rees, President of the Rotary Club of Toowoomba East, wrote to a number of us in relation to supporting refugees through the ...Rotary Social Enterprise Project, which his Club, Toowoomba East, and other Rotary clubs in Toowoomba are considering adopting as a pilot programme to help organizations become sustainable profit centres. He went on to explain that Rotary's part in the project is not so much one of fundraising and providing physical labour, but rather being a catalyst or enabler of talented people in social enterprises. Together, let’s build connections and opportunities that will allow people who share our drive to do the same. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKfc3tlWCo4&feature=youtu.be See more
10.01.2022 My dear friends and fellow Rotary leaders, As we enter Foundation Month, we would like to personally thank each and every one of you who did so much to make World Polio Day such an enormous success. We broadcast our Global Update on 24 October in multiple time zones around the world, reaching more people, and raising more awareness than ever before. Rotary members in 146 countries registered more than 6,500 World Polio Day events and activities, from Brazil to Japan, Nigeria ...to India. More than $900,000 was contributed online to the PolioPlus Fund which moves us closer to this year’s $50 million fundraising goal to take full advantage of the Bill & Melinda Gates match. 05.01.2022 This morning a dozen enthusiastic members had fun assisting with the packing of grocery hampers for Lifeline’s Loads of Love Appeal. Whilst the work was being done, groceries purchased by the Club from Coles were being unloaded. It was great to see the team work, as members used different approaches to packing bags in the most efficient way. Great effort everyone! 04.01.2022 Recently, the Zonta Club of Toowoomba Inc. held an extremely successful High Tea, with proceeds being donated to The Toowoomba Hospice Association Inc. It was great that our Rotary Club could assist in a small way by providing our marquees for the occasion.
