22.01.2022 YOUNGTOWN ROTARY CLUBS ELDERLY CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX APPEAL Christmas is a time of joy for most us fortunate enough to friends and family close. Unfortunately, th...is is not always the case for many in our community, and none more so than many residents from retirement villages, nursing homes and aged care facilities. The reality is, we all grow old, and when we do can we be sure that we will still have family and friends who will look after us? Will we have people who can visit, or will we be mobile enough to able to go out? We all hope we will, but for many, this is not necessarily the case. For many, families no longer live close, friends have passed, and neighbours have moved on, leaving some residents in care facilities to live lonely lives, facing times, such as Christmas and birthdays, alone. We know that we can never replace a family member, but the members of Youngtown Rotary Club have decided that we can, with a simple gift, ensuring elderly community members are remembered, especially at Christmas. The Youngtown Rotary Club Elderly Christmas Shoebox Appeal will provide a small thoughtful collection of items, packed neatly in a shoe box wrapped in Christmas paper, to those in the care facility without family or friends on Christmas morning. Each box will contain a collection of small items which we all take for granted, such as soap, a face washer, toothbrush and toothpaste, puzzle books, pens, warm socks, gloves, hats . the list is endless (please note that as many in later life have dietary requirements, these boxes will not contain food, lollies or chocolate). To achieve this Youngtown Rotary are asking for assistance with either items that can be included in the boxes, vouchers that can be used to purchase essential gifts for the elderly residents, or a collection bin in-store to collect donations from generous members of our community. Please SHARE this post. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated, and will be acknowledged on our website and Facebook page, as well as in press releases and all associated promotion with this project. For further information, or to discuss the project in more detail, please do not hesitate to message us. Your consideration is greatly appreciated,

05.01.2022 It is letters like these that make the effort we put in worth it. Its hard work raising money all year, but our dedicated members donate their time to constant...ly run bbqs, the Soggy Bottom Cardboard Box Boat Race and the Agfest food van to name a few, but when these funds are used to improve the lives of others in our community, it is effort that was worth doing. So glad we made a difference this Christmas .... please read on ..... On behalf of all the residents of Regis Norwood, I would like to express my sincere gratitude in your recent gift donations for our residents . They were wonderful gift boxes for both the ladies and men presented beautifully . It was such a pleasure to give to others on behalf of the Rotary Club of Youngtown, to the nominated residents and it really did make a difference in their lives especially at this time of Christmas. One of our male residents asked me to thankyou personally, and despite his inability to see anymore, he was truly grateful and appreciative, and it made him feel special on receiving the gift. He went on to tell me how he was a past president of the Rotary club of Kings Meadows, MR Scotty Wilson, and he commented on what a wonderful job to those involved in what was placed in the gift boxes. On the residents behalf we thank all involved at the Rotary Club of Youngtown in the donations, preparations and organising of the gifts to give to others. What wonderful work you do! Kind Regards Jacky Voorham Lifestyle Coordinator Regis Tasmania - Norwood
