21.01.2022 The good old days

19.01.2022 Delivering some today.

18.01.2022 Today marked the start of our Rotary Wellington Points Christmas Wrapping project at Capalaba Central - heralding the arrival of Santa and trying to convince him we had all been good during the year! Lovely to connect again with all the fantastically generous volunteers from Crimestoppers, Qld Police Legacy, Volunteers in Policing, Probus and of course our own Rotary Wellington Point members - not to mention others who just pop by and offer to give a hand. None of this would be possible without the generosity of Capalaba Central Centre Management - and we say thank you to you all. A beautiful morning tea was followed by our wrapping skills being again put to the test. Lovely to meet Santa and reconnect again today with so many tireless Redlands volunteers from the many contributing organizations, all there in the Spirit of Christmas.

18.01.2022 Clean up at The Point on Sunday, watch out for swooping birds!

16.01.2022 Rotary Wellington Point is thrilled to see the positive impact created in the Eulo township and in surrounding communities, during this time of hardship. Thank YOU for your support! https://www.redlandcitybulletin.com.au//rotarians-go-wes/

15.01.2022 Last week Rotary Wellington Point presented numerous cheques to the incredible community groups that were involved with the Annual Club Raffle. Over $6000 was raised! It was also fantastic to hear whats been happening in the Redlands through the efforts of these organisations. Proceeds from the raffle will support the The Sycamore School - Autism Friendly Learning, the The Library Project - Vanuatu, Redlands4Refugees, the Redland Museum, and the Birkdale Mens Shed. Well done to all!

15.01.2022 Lets continue to show our support for the bushfire victims and communities. Details for making a donation are below:

15.01.2022 Thank you Redlands , no words or photo can express what an amazing impact YOU have had on lifting the spirits of Eulo! To all the individuals, groups and busi...nesses thank you for making the Drought Relief weekend possible . Back now in Redlands ( with phone connection) after a wonderful four days in outback Queensland especially Eulo. Recently there was a fund raising dinner held by Wellington Point Rotary which raised nearly $10,000 matched then by a Dick Smith Compassionate Grant so $20,000 will now be distributed through their region with vouchers from Rotary Drought Relief. Cloths and other donations such as books have been being collected since May were all transported out by Utes and trailers and then displayed in their local hall for the locals to come and collect what was needed. Thank you to Nan, Helen, Colin and Randal for assistingnus co-ordinate everyhing. Funds raised also bought a media player for the Eulo State School that made the teachers cry when Rotary presented it. Saturday night we decorated the Eulo Pub and a few big hearted Redlanders and friends from Harvey Bay had donated so we could put on a free dinner for the locals. Dianne Thompson and I decided we would have a 60s theme party and everyone got right into it and came dressed up and had a fantastic time. A few moves were taught by Noel and Judy special thanks to Di for cooking up desserts and all other cooks and helpers. Lucky Sue from Rotary also loves to cook. Colin the publican opened his magnificent Hotel, the Eulo Queen Hotel, to all of us to celebrate the friendship between Redlands and Eulo. The Eulo Queen is a must see on any outback Queensland holiday. A special moment of the weekend was the lighting of the Star.... special thanks to Rod Arrold who managed to work out how to transport the Friendship Star and then erect it with Colins help on the side of the Eulo Queen Hotel. The looks on the childrens faces when we turned the lights on was worth the trip alone. Donated by locals and made by the Uniting Church of Cleveland Christmas Light Group the Star made everyone feel very close and is now shining on the wall each night leading into Christmas so this small outback town knows Redlands community cares..... This knowing people are thinking of them greatly lifted the towns spirits. This year Black Dogs also rode out and joined us. They did the bbq cooking , thank you, and also had some meaningful conversations with some locals. Sunday two locals showed us their properties which was an eye opener for many and such a great experience as we dug for Megafauna bones and saw mud springs. Carmel holds Music in the Mulga on her property in May ( as she has no more livestock) and this is a great boost to their local economy so start planning and check out on Facebook. The week end concluded with a delicious bbq out at Randals shearing shed , 40 klm west of Eulo, with locals and visitors cementing our friendships. So many folk to thank such as Maddie who also came along and pitched in everywhere including Roy who captured everything on his camera and of course Lorraine who was a busy bee before after and during and then Gordon and Di who served the dessert and helped in the planning. Redlands YOU have made such an enormous difference to this town, words cannot describe it, thank you See more

15.01.2022 Today, December 5 marks International Volunteer Day and Wellington Point Rotary just wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of the hardworking volunteers in our community! Volunteering provides opportunities for people, particularly those often excluded, to concretely impact their own lives and play a constructive role in their communities by volunteering their time and skills. Through volunteerism, communities around the world often experience strengthened solidarity and inclusion. #IVD2019 #RotaryLovesVolunteers #Rotary9630 #RotaryWellingtonPoint

10.01.2022 Another little memory which popped up today from 8 years ago - it was a close shave - and for a great cause!

10.01.2022 At Wellington Point Rotary tonight with our extended ' Rotary family' we shared a lovely meal marking the 10th anniversary of the Club, as well as gratefully celebrating not only the achievements of our last Rotary year, but also graciously acknowledged the team spirit prevailing which enabled so many connections with so many communities, to give a 'hand up' where needed. It was a time to say thank you to all those who have partnered with us along the way - because without everyone working together, giving of their time and individual talents, it would just not be possible. Rotary friendships are special and make the journey even more of a privilege! It was just another special night which will be remembered for all the right reasons! - Lorraine

So much in the true spirit of Christmas. Congratulations Neale Collier and Ronwyn Collier Julie Talty and your dedicated teams who put so much into ensuring the success of this event - each year it gains popularity and it was a privilege for our team from Rotary Wellington Point to share the day with you. - Lorraine

05.01.2022 Thank you! The Drought Relief Dinner was a wonderful Redlands community evening with everyone coming together for a common cause - caring for others. Wellington... Point Rotary and Redlands Museum members plus volunteer Chef fabulous Simon worked tirelessly throughout the day to cook, bake , whip up, decorate, deliver, set up to transform the room into a country themed dining area and home cooked food to cater. Local businesses donated items to also assist. Hogans delivered the drinks which made it easy also. Rotary have initiated a Adopt a Town and we already had this connection to Eulo Wellington Point Rotary is the first Club in our District- which spreads that far- to partake. The exciting news to start the night was we were successful in being awarded a Dick Smith Compassionate Grant through Rotary which means every $ raised will be matched ! Isnt that overwhelming?! There were so many who assisted last night like Rob from the Community Mens Shed that met at the Redlands Sporting Club each Monday morning - Rob came along and entertained us during the night. The Museum volunteers who as usual rolled up their sleeves and pitched in plus gave a guided tour of the Museum. This was really enjoyed and to my surprise some locals hadnt visited the Museum before. Thank you to those on the night who just stood up and helped when they saw a need- Paul Golle thank you for your clearing table skills . Mark our auctioneer who stirred up the room and made the auction a marvellous success. Most of all thank you to everyone who attended. Friends , family, those who knew Eulo, other Rotarians, Wellington Point walking group, so many to thank..... without you and your compassionate spirit this amazing and successful evening would not have been possible. I didnt take nearly enough photos, as the night seemed to slip by , but I wanted to show the feel that was in the room which was purely community. People generously donating back their auction items or raffle prizes. I have a wonderful idea for these We will take your warmth with us when we visit Eulo in a couple of weeks and this care is what will lift the spirits, the Mental Health of the area . This is just as vital as the other donations ... Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for coming on this journey with us to assist our fellow county Australians. I am still overwhelmed by last nights sincere warmth from everyone ..... Redlands cares is an understatement. See more

01.01.2022 It was fantastic to have Year 12 Ormiston College student Varsha Raghavan speak to the Club about her recent Rotary Youth Transition Seminar Camp experience this week. Varsha is passionate about leadership, business and entrepreneurship - and is encouraging other young leaders and schools to get actively involved in creating positive change in their communities. We are thrilled to see how much the camp positively impacted her, and continues to do so. Our thanks go to her parents, Raji and Vin, for encouraging Varsha throughout her incredible journey. We extend our support and brightest wishes to Varsha for her future. #rotary #rotarywellingtonpoint #rytscamp #leadership #youngleader #rotaryconnectstheworld #personaldevelopment #ormistoncollege #business #entrepreneurship #peopleofaction
