24.01.2022 Computer generated picture of how the car could look after paint job and signage attached
24.01.2022 Hi Bashers and others following our Bash Car. I just need a couple of things to help finish off the build if anyone can help. Gear shift lever rubber boot and trim, wheel centres (similar to photo) or wheel covers for15" rims (imitation mag style preferably). Secondhand in fair condition is OK.
24.01.2022 Looking forward to Rotary Clubs across Zone 8 coming onboard as Sponsors.
23.01.2022 Old school cut & Paste, different sized signage printed on paper and attached to the vehicle with sticky tape, to get an idea of how the Sponsors sign would look and fit. there's room for 100 Rotary Clubs to have the smaller sized Rotary Wheel sign with their Club name and District number or equivalent in the larger sizes.
23.01.2022 Final fundraising push for this year's Variety Bash. Who wants to join us in Birdsville for the races - Australia's social event of the year. Two bus tickets for a 6 day outback adventure, all inclusive with $1000 spending money. Contact me (email [email protected]) for payment method to get your tickets.
21.01.2022 Just replaced the wheels and tyres with Bash compliant ones. Will consider offers for the old set of mags and tyres. 225 50R 15
21.01.2022 Well we did it! We got through the 2020 Bash without any real issues. I've registered again for 2021 - Winton via Birdsville to Yeppoon in September. I'm looking for Rotarian Team mates from any Club in ANZ to be, Co-drivers, Navigators, or Support team. There is presently 3 seats in the vehicle but I can fit a 4th if there is demand. You don't necessarily have to do the whole trip (2 weeks) but you'd need to find alternative transport (to join or exit the tour) if you can't do the full tour. Get your EOI in ASAP for details of commitment and for consideration.
19.01.2022 some recent photos to show how Car 1921 has progressed so far.
19.01.2022 What a great week mixing with fun people.
19.01.2022 Maybe Facebook isn't the best place for this type of sale or there just isn't anyone interested. I'll try Marketplace as well.
18.01.2022 Before and after photos showing the 2nd hand rims purchased to meet Bash requirements and the work done by the creative staff of our sponsor, Jonkers Smash Repairs. I was expecting black but they felt #1921 deserved a bit of bling.
18.01.2022 This is to show progress of the Caboolture Rotary Club's Promotional vehicle for the R100 project/Variety Bash Car.
17.01.2022 It's time to start fundraising for the 2021 Variety Bash. I know it's been a tough year, but if you have even a few dollars that you'd be willing to donate for our entry in the 2021 Variety Bash, which goes to the Children's Foundation. https://www.varietybashqld.com.au/peter-brown#donate then I know it would be well used.
17.01.2022 Bash Car 1921 is supporting the Moreton Bay Red Ride on 1st May. One of the beneficiaries of the fundraising is the Variety Children's Foundation. If you ride a motorcycle then please go to redride.org and check it out and don't forget to register for the event ASAP. *If you plan to stay overnight then get in quick because accommodation in the Woodford area may be limited - We are planning on 2000 bikes attending this event.
16.01.2022 What a difference a spray makes. I was going to do a spray can coat of black gloss on the old rims but the Jonkers team felt Bash car #1921 deserved a bit of bling. Check out the before and after photos
16.01.2022 Special thanks to local business sponsors: 1. Jonkers Smash repairs for paint work including bullbar and wheel rims 2. Tyrepower Caboolture for discounted tyres and exhaust and donated labour. 3. Qld Signs for sponsoring all the Rotary signage on the car 4. Bashies Auto Electrical for wiring up all the lights & equipment, including after market air-con.... 5. GMR Automotive for support & labour on mechanical work so far 6. Pedders Caboolture for offer of suspension check (& consideration of work to come) First & last to, Gordon Papps for support and mentoring in the vehicle build to Bash requirements. See more
14.01.2022 This is fairly much how the car looked when it was purchased - a 1990 Holden Commodore Station Wagon 6cyl. It's now at Our sponsor's business, Jonkers Smash Repairs, getting a paint job.
10.01.2022 A big thankyou to Hugh at R100 project for helping to get the word out. Sponsorship spots still available - I look forward to hearing from Clubs far & wide across Australia (and anywhere - if interested). Change of idea: istead of adding District number (which doesn't mean a lot to non-Rotarians) I think it would be more interesting to add Year of Charter. Peter Brown RC Caboolture Secretary & Bash Car/R100 project coordinator
09.01.2022 Depositing $5000 towards our 2020 fundraising tally today.
09.01.2022 More recent photo updates. Thank you to our local business vehicle sposors and Rotary Club sponsors from around Australia.
07.01.2022 Car 1921 will be out on the road again, to continue its around Australia tour celebrating Rotary's 100 years of service. Over the next few weeks, it will be touring the east coast between Brisbane and Sydney. If you're in that area and you'd like it to drop in for a catch up, especially if you are involved with Rotary (as a Rotarian or they're a sponsor of yours) then just let me know your contact details and we can try to work out a date and time.
05.01.2022 Examples of the relationship between Rotary and Variety Bash.
05.01.2022 So grateful for the write up of our Caboolture Rotary Club's R100 project - Variety Bash Car #1921, in the Rotary Zone 8 Public Image Newsletter. Covers all Rotary Clubs in Australia New Zealand & Pacific Islands
04.01.2022 Pleased to announce that the Gold Sponsor is the Caboolture Rotary Club and they will feature on the front bonnet. Still looking for a sign business that can sponsor some of the signage.
04.01.2022 On my way Brisbane to Sydney in the R100 Project Bash Car today. Staying in Lane Cove 8tg - 16th. If you think I'll be passing through your town or around your Rotary Club, please contact me and I'll see if I can attend your meeting or meet up some other way.
01.01.2022 Looking for advice on what's a reasonably priced trip meter and where to get one / how to install it.
