24.01.2022 One of the most rewarding parts of Rotary is being able to support the youth of our community. Last year's Ben Van Itallie Bursary recipient, Emma Dendle, gave our Club a presentation of a very interesting year of study during Covid. Emma is flourishing with her studies and we look forward to continued updates of her successes in the future. We thank Rotarian Judy Pender, New Generations Director, for her continued work in this area.
24.01.2022 The Rotary Club of Biloela would like to thank Banana Shire Council for its generous support of the 2020 Annual Seniors Luncheon hosted by Callide Valley Lions Club and Rotary Club of Biloela. We were determined to deliver a COVID safe event for our seniors and this funding goes a long way to helping make this happen. This years luncheon will be hosting 89 seniors and volunteers. It was important for Lions and Rotary to see this event continue this year after so many events ...have been cancelled. #rotarybiloela #rotaryincentralqueensland #serviceaboveself #bananashirecouncil
21.01.2022 Last week we enjoyed hearing our newest member Cherie Sauer's presentation "This is my Life...so far". We look forward to working with Cherie as she shares her many talents and community spirit with us all.
19.01.2022 Rotary Biloela received an early Christmas present in mid-December from Jason Spence, Branch Manager of the Commonwealth Bank in Biloela. President Gail Rodda was very pleased to receive a a $500 donation ! The Biloela Commonwealth Bank team selected the Rotary Club of Biloela to receive a donation of $500 as part of their National Community donations program. They have selected us for the great work we do in the Biloela area. ... We give thanks to Jason and Staff at the Commonwealth Bank Biloela for this kind donation which will be put to good use in our local community.
18.01.2022 When outgoing President David Mowat approached Gail Rodda at the start of his year to see if she would be interested in taking on the President Elect role she had been with the club less than 12 months. Inspired by the words of Sir Richard Branson ‘If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you’re. It sure you can do it, say yes - then learn how to do it later’ she said yes knowing that with the support of her club and a plethora of knowledge within Rotary International... she will be guided, mentored and inspired. On the 11th of July, Gail stepped into the role of President of the Rotary Club of Biloela. Her husband Craig pinning her Presidents badge on, friend and colleague Leanne Whelan representing Gails family who live in NSW and District Governor Adele Hughes presiding over the formalities. In her address, Gail spoke of having hopes for the Rotary Club of Biloela achieving wonderful things during the year including engaging with the youth in our community, supporting Rotary Foundation and planning a project to celebrate 100 Years of Rotary in Australia and New Zealand. Gail is excited by Rotary International President Holger Knaacks 2020-2021 theme ‘Rotary Opens Opportunities’ or as she refers to it ‘The Year of the ROO’. Opportunities such as taking on the role of President, supporting drought affected farmers, trekking the Kokoda trail or raising a few bucks from a sausage sizzle. Alfred Adler, an Austrian psychologist tells us to ‘Follow your heart but take your brain with you.’ Gail is following her heart in service above self supported by her brain - the members of her board. COVID-19 has definitely given us plenty of challenges but as we traverse the ‘new normal’ Gail knows we will encounter new opportunities not previously available to us. 15.01.2022 President Gail Marie Rodda One of the wonderful things about Rotary is that recognition is not limited to Rotarians. Tonight it gave me great pleasure on behalf of the Rotary Club of Biloela to recognise Dianne Morris as a Paul Harris Fellow. The Paul Harris Fellow is named for Paul Harris, who founded Rotary with three business associates in Chicago in 1905. Paul Harris Fellow recognition was established in his honour in 1957 to express appreciation for a contribution US$10...00 to the humanitarian and educational programs of The Rotary Foundation. Di and her husband Don have had a close relationship with the Rotary Club of Biloela for many years and with their departure approaching it was a fitting way for us to acknowledge Di's commitment to the community of Biloela. Dianne Morris was selected to receive this recognition because the Rotary Club of Biloela believes that your life exemplifies the humanitarian and educational objectives of The Rotary Foundation. We thank you for demonstrating in your life and vocation a commitment to helping persons in need here and around the world as demonstrated by the following: - A registered nurse, Di worked at Biloela hospital, Wahroonga Retirement Village and a local medical practice. - Di has served in local government as a Banana Shire Councillor - Owner and operator of On Kariboe B&B, a successful small business - Been involved in various health initiatives in central Queensland, member and past president of Biloela Enterprise, member and past president of Queensland Rural Regional and Remote Women's Network - 2020 Banana Shire Citizen of the Year - A member of the Team Biloela Tour de Cure Team raising over half a million dollars towards cancer research through 9 fund raising rides and associated fund-raising events. - Is the driving force behind Biloela Small Town, shared ideas to develop it Facebook group. This list highlights just some of the achievements of an outstanding member and supporter of her local community. #rotarybiloela #rotaryincentralqueensland #serviceaboveself
14.01.2022 Winners are grinners! Our 2020 car rally champions are: 1st - The Kidds 2nd - The Caugheys (Xmas/naughty nurses) 3rd - The Outback Adventurers aka Anton, David M & Murray This friendly comp certainly brought out the competitive side in some of us, but the real challenge was reading and comprehension and following instructions :)
13.01.2022 Rotary Biloela finished the year off with a fun-filled car rally on Saturday afternoon, with the secret destination being our Christmas party! It was so much fun with clues along the way, items to collect and selfies to take. We had hippies and naughty nurses, Xmas themed teams and some awesome "Divas" who collected accessories along the way to complete their outfits! A big thank you to Sue at the Jambin Pub for being such a good sport and helping distribute our second set of instructions. We'd also like to thank Management & Staff of the Banana Pub for providing a lovely setting and beautiful meal and accommodation to end our day. Merry Christmas everyone!

10.01.2022 This evening we had the pleasure of presenting our recent bursary winners to our Club members. Zali Eckel was the Ben Van Itallie bursary recipient and Hayden Cooper was the Jeff Allen bursary recipient. The Ben Van Itallie bursary aims to assist a Yr 12 student with tertiary education, in memory of Past President & Rotarian Ben Van Itallie. This is the first year we have presented a Jeff Allen bursary, in memory of Past Rotarian Jeff Allen. It is aimed at Yr 12 students i...nterested in pursuing a career in a trade. This bursary is particularly special to Hayden Cooper, not only as the FIRST recipient of this bursary but also to honour the memory of Jeff who he had become friends with after learning blacksmithing together. We thank Jeff Allen's family for committing to support the financial commitment of this annual bursary for our local youth. It is very pleasing to see such fine young citizens in our community and certainly makes us all very proud to be able to support them with their future endeavours. Once again we thank Young Generations Director, Judy Pender, for her tireless work with our youth.
09.01.2022 The world of Rotary is a big place, like one big family. We love supporting other Clubs with their events and Rockhampton's Fitzroy Club is one of those. We travel up for their High Tea every year in a few cars to enjoy their events. It's a great opportunity to relax and enjoy some fellowship whilst having fun and helping fill the coffers to assist with their local fundraising endeavours.
09.01.2022 Last night saw the Club hold the inaugural Cornhole Championships at our shed. Lots of laughs were had by all and the saying ‘happy wife happy life’ may have been heard more than once. Our family events are always heaps of fun and Noel manages to come up with games that involve everyone. Noel constructed the Cornhole boards from scratch as well as the trophies. Thanks to his lovely wife Bron for making the corn bags. Here we see the championship final - ... IPP David Mowat and Col Caughey versus Tracey Kidd and Lindsay Caughey. Tracey and Lindsay walked away with the win and David Kidd won nearest the hole in a bag off at the end of the night.

09.01.2022 Last Saturday evening, David Mowat made his last presentation as President of our Club and handed over the reigns to our new President Gail Rodda. Congratulations to David and his Board for a successful year which was a little stifled by the Covid19 restrictions. Nevertheless, many charities still benefited from the work of our Club and its members. We look forward to an exciting, fun and productive year ahead with Gail at the helm!

08.01.2022 We wish to congratulate Greg Klease, former Bilo boy (he'd say he'll always be a Bilo boy) on being awarded a Paul Harris Fellow Award in Gladstone recently. Greg has worked tirelessly on a multitude of charitable projects over the years. As co-owner of Reef City Ford he sponsored our local Pride of Workmanship awards for many years for which we are very grateful. More recently he has been involved in Variety Bash. Congratulations Greg, well deserved!
