24.01.2022 Tomorrow kicks off Men’s Health Week for 2020. We feel this is an important week for men, and a timely reminder to get a few checks and check-ins done that we m...ight have been putting off for a while. Throughout the week, we will be sharing various links to forums and information for us all to check out to get a better understanding of the issues men face each and every day. If you’re a man, or know one that needs a hand, make sure you reach out to them for a chat, or even a reminder to head off and check-in with professional services when needed.

22.01.2022 The Rotary Club of Central Launceston had a very special event happen at Ravenswood Heights Primary School this morning! Our club has a fantastic partnership with the school and we were delighted to donate two peace poles to the school, the first of which was installed this morning. The poles have messages of peace and the messages and languages are selected by the school.... The Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin has invited 100 Rotary clubs in Australia to donate a peace pole to their local school to commemorate Rotary's centenary in Australia in 2021 and to promote peace, which is one of Rotary's areas of focus. Today RCCL Rotarian Steve Jillett did a great job putting the peace pole into the ground with fabulous assistance from students Charli, Hayley, Jason and Phoenix and Principal Jason Gunn. Our President Scott Towns deserves our thanks too, doing a lot of heavy digging with Steve. Fantastic job team! #Rotary #peace #rotarycentenary

21.01.2022 The Rotary Club of Central Launceston is proud and excited to be involved in an International Project to Install Water Bores in Tanzania, which will provide clean drinking water to thousands of people. We all take it for granted that when we turn the tap on we get water, but as you know that is not the case in many parts of the world. With a successful Rotary Global Grant the Project will assist in being able to provide water to up to 50,000 people in the Tarime District in N...orthern Tanzania. To make a donation to the Water Bores for Tanzania Global Grant Project please direct deposit to: Water Bores for Tanzania BSB 037 608 Acc number 767188 With your name/club/organisation/business in the Reference field, and email a copy to [email protected]. This is a guided ride led by TBUG (Tas Bike Users Group) and supported by the SES at the main road crossings in Invermay. Safety, fun, exercise and participation are the key elements of success for this ride. There may even be some treats for the children (and the adults) at the Heritage Forest halfway point - just to keep your energy levels up! 13.01.2022 We’re so pleased to welcome Steve Jillett to our club! Getting to know new members is always fascinating and Steve’s no exception. Here’s a small snap shot from Steve on how he’s spent the last 20 years before finally returning to the place he loves. I grew up in Queenstown and Zeehan, attending boarding school at Scotch Oakburn College for high school from 84-89. I was after a bit of an adventure after school so joined the Army in 1991 to do an apprenticeship as an Electron...ics Technician in the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME). I loved the Army and all it had to offer so applied for the Royal Military College Duntroon, graduating in 1998 as an Army Officer. I went back to RAEME managing logistics and workshops for a further 8 years. In 2006 I needed a new challenge and a career change so applied to transfer to the Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. I continued in this role until my retirement from the Air Force in July 2019. In total I served for 28 years in the Military including 2 operational deployments to East Timor and Afghanistan. I returned to Tasmania in late 2018 to care for my ill father and realised this amazing state is where I am most at peace. Tassie has so much to offer so I made the decision to move back permanently. I have two Sons, Sam (20) and Oliver (17) who live in QLD, they visit regularly but this year has been particularly hard due to all the travel restrictions.
12.01.2022 Yesterday we held our second annual Walk for Suicide Prevention to raise awareness of this important issue. Thanks to everyone who joined us to walk in support and to our guest speakers, Laura from Cornerstone, Rod from Lifeline and Rick from Relationships Australia.

04.01.2022 Tasmania was the only state to host the Science and Engineering Challenge this year and our club was proud to provide volunteers for set up and activities on the day. Open to year 9 and 10 students, the challenge encourages students to participate in hands-on activities that CHALLENGE traditional stereotypes of scientists and engineers. Congratulations to all finalists and winners!
04.01.2022 Supporting education is one of Rotary's seven areas of focus. The Rotary Club of Central Launceston is proud of our partnership with Ravenswood Heights Primary School. 03.01.2022 The Rotary Club of Central Launceston sincerely thanks all local businesses who sponsored tickets for the recent Circus Quirkus. Our Rotary club hosts this event and we are deeply grateful for the amazing support we receive from local businesses for Circus Quirkus. It is because of this strong business support that this year we have been able to raise close to $15,000 dollars for Magnolia Place (Launceston Women's Shelter), which supports women and children experiencing homel...essness, often due to domestic violence. #RotaryTasmania See more
