22.01.2022 This week our club made it's first installment on our major youth project with Brisbane Water Secondary College. On learning the difficulties Agriculture studen...ts face with accomodation when spending time learning in place on country farms, our club devised a "package" of essential items to allow the visits to continue. This week's first donation consisted of tents and stretchers and will be followed in the new year by a portable toilet and shower and a large trailer to transport the camping items. See more

22.01.2022 We have joined with Ray White Saratoga - Kincumber and Coast Shelter to collect gifts for Christmas again this year. You can drop unwrapped gifts for children in to Ray White Saratoga, before 3rd December and they will be taken to Coast Shelter for distribution.

20.01.2022 Christmas Tree sales are nearly upon us. Erina Rotarians will be at Terrigal Park, near the Fire Station on 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th December, from 7am, until sold out.

16.01.2022 A huge thank you to Days For Girls (DFG) Gosford North for another donation of 300 DFG's packs for East Timor, to be included in Maternity Packs for new mums wh...o have nothing at the time of birth for themselves or their new baby. A good crowd enjoyed the film I Am Woman and helped raise funds for the Rotary quest to End Polio. 05.01.2022 November 3, 2020 Guest Speaker via zoom Donald MacDonald. Fire Management Officer at National Parks and Wildlife. Strategic Planning, Incident Management, Training, Resource coordination, GIS, Bush Fire Management Committees, Specialist support to field. Donald is a former member of the Rotary Club of Gosford West. Donald’s role is to improve the understanding of the risks of bushfires, the uncontrollable behaviour of fires and how strategic programs and management can hel...p mitigate future events. He works in collaboration with many organisations, including the RFS and Fire and Rescue NSW. Donald spoke about the drought cycle that preceded the 2019-2020 fire season and the impact of that cycle on the ferocity of the fires. He spoke about conservation-based ethics and fire as a mechanism for change, or a disrupter (similar to Covid), where changes result from such events. Fire behaviour was also discussed, where technology and information from organisations such as the BOM enable fires to be anticipated from 3 hours to 3 days ahead. Intelligence allows for elements such as fire risk, weather, equipment and public information to be managed within a fire impact timeline. Moisture content in the air and wind speed are indicators of fire weather and are closely monitored. In 2019 high drought conditions and maximum fuel enabled the bush fires. Donald’s prediction for 2020 is that more grass fires may be possible because of the high spring rains and the ability of open paddock areas to regenerate after those rains. See more
