25.01.2022 Why not come down and support the Tractor Pull this weekend? Walkerston Rotary is holding a tractor pull at the Sarina Showground this Saturday and Sunday. It is a family event with even a merry-go-round for the children Pioneer Valley and Sarina Rotary Clubs are running this. Rotaract Mackay and Sarina Interact Clubs are cooking pastizzi that you can snack on. Walkerston Rotary are cooking burgers, chip and pies and after all that you can wash it down with a nice cold beer.... A big thank you to all of the generous local businesses who have sponsored this event. Well done to the five Rotary clubs working together to create this great community event. 11.01.2022 Desperate plea for more members (and other interested parties) to do their Bronze and join our patrolling members. We need to get 8 more people to take up the... challenge so we can reduce the obligation on our existing patrolling members. A lot of our existing patrolling members kids, have long ago grown up and are no longer nippers (moved on to uni/ grown up). It is really important that we are able to meet our patrol obligations to be able to run nippers. Without our patrols we are unable to exist as a club. We are pleading for people to step forward and take the challenge. Being on patrol is fun. You make friends, learn invaluable skills and serve the community. It can be a family activity with your kids learning skills and keeping active on the beach. When they are old enough they can do their Surf Rescue Certificate. There is a course commencing at Mackay SLSC this Saturday 28th September at 10am. It will run over 6 weeks on Saturday morning and a Tuesday evening with assessment scheduled for the 2 November. We can organise someone to meet you at the pool in the next few days to do your swim. We will find a time that works for you. You just need to be able to swim 400m in under 9 mins. This is an SOS as our current patrolling members are desperate for help. Please share with your friends. See more
08.01.2022 A philanthropic donor, who wishes to remain anonymous has given $1million to Rotary. The funds are specifically targeted to support those farmers in areas of se...vere drought by purchasing hay for their core breeding stocks. The NSW Government has also come to the party by providing $492,500 worth of funding for transport costs. This means that all of the donated money can be used for the purchase of hay. The first of these deliveries has started to roll out with the photo showing a delivery to "Stirling" which is in the Little Plain area of NSW. A full copy of the official press release is detailed below. -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- Rotary Australia World Community Service Ltd 18th December 2019 Sydney, Australia Anonymous Donor Gives $1million to Aussie farmers A generous philanthropic donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, has given $1million to Rotary to benefit Aussie cattle producers doing it tough in the drought and struggling to maintain their core breeding herds. The donor wants Rotary to provide real assistance to genuine primary producers and so the project has been designed to deliver a B-Double truck load of hay to each selected recipient. This is sufficient fodder to maintain a 100 cow herd for one month. One month closer to rain!! The extensive zone of declared intense drought and lowest ever recorded rainfall, lying over the Northern Tablelands, NW slopes and Darling downs, has been selected for the project. Rotary Clubs within this zone have been asked to tap into the local knowledge of their Club’s Members to identify those cattle producers who are in the most need and who without this assistance will be forced to dispose of the last of their breeding herds. It is anticipated that this donation could stretch to between 100 and 120 recipients in total. Whilst Rotary acknowledges that the donation cannot stretch to all those in need it will, at least, give material assistance to the selected farmers. The NSW Government through the NSW Rural Assistance Authority has generously agreed to provide up to $492,500 (ex GST) in funding for the transportation of hay to NSW farmers. The donation by the NSW Rural Assistance Authority means that Rotary can now use the full $1million donation received for the purchase of hay. Rotary Australia World Community Service Ltd (RAWCS) is managing the funds and the purchase and distribution of hay. -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
