19.01.2022 Hats of to Rotary In this case it was Hats on at the Young Rotary dinner meeting this week, in support of Mental Health . There were 16 members in attendance with 16 hats . Our Foundation Director Debbie Hall organised 20 fun trivia question for the night and raised $112 in total for support in Rotary mental Health efforts, (seems like a few questions may have been purchased ). The winner of the trivia was President Hank with 18 points , the best hat, and rightly so , was won by John Hamblin , winning himself a box of chokkies , a close second was Cliff with his beautifull pink number . Thanks Debbie for the trivia , it was a fun night
18.01.2022 The Prostate Cancer Support Group Young has donated a further $2500 to CanAssist Young to assist local men with medical, transport and accommodation costs during their treatment. Although there has been a rise in demand for help, we would like to think that our awareness campaign has resulted in more men being diagnosed. Remember it is a simple PSA blood test.
17.01.2022 Tuesday 01/09/20 Rotary Young has the pleasure of the company of Mr Stuart and Mrs Lynne Fruedenstien , both members of Lions Club of Young Not only is Stuart a member of Young Lions Club , but he is the District Governor, governing district 201 N4 , quiet a large area with 48 clubs over 10 zones . Stuart told us of he’s journey through Lions since becoming a member in 2016 . He and Lynne have attended conferences both locally and internationally. He share...d with us of how heart warming it was for he and Lynne to witness the work that Lions do within the foundation of Child Mobility where they help fund and supply mobility aids for children with disabilities . Stuart also told us of Hearing Dogs , a newer foundation that Lions are involved with . The Lions Club of Young have been working within our community for 50 years , they are avid supporters of the Young Farmers Market .Youth Of The Year Public Speaking and the local quilt show are also some of thier annual fundraisers . The Young Lions Club , Rotary Young , along with all service clubs have been forging on with zoom meetings and limited gatherings during these Covid 19 restrictions . Stuart’s theme for the year is Serving With Compassion Compassion is something Stuart thinks we could all do with in these trying times . Rotary Young would like to thank Stuart and Lynne for thier company and wish DG Freudenstien and Young Lions all the best for the looming year See more
16.01.2022 When last minute cancellations happen , our President Hank has to think fast . This is what occurred for our dinner meet on Tuesday the 25th Di Lincoln , a long time Rotarian and great lady ,put her hand up to give a wonderful and entertaining talk about some of the RAWCS ( Rotary Australia World Community Service)trips she and Frank and other Rotarians and friends were involved in. Di recalled What was involved in building new houses and upgrading hospitals in Fiji and Vanu...atu .There was lots of , hard work ,fun and achievement , Di also spoke about their visit to an African village and the special time spent at School of St Jude in Tanzania. Like many other aid/organisations , covid 19 has taken its toll, with money making events and tourist tours of the school being lost because of no tourists .Our club is a strong supporter of St Judes School and will continue to be in the future . Thanks Di for stepping up , it was a very enjoyable evening See more
