21.01.2022 We are excited to welcome Jacob and the crew from Chancez Cafes for their first day on Wednesday the 18th of November (9.30-3.30) Chancez Cafes are run by local... disability support organisation, Araluen, so participants can gain confidence and experience as they learn hospitality skills. Araluen will eventually run the cafe three days a week, feel free to go down and support them. They are looking forward to seeing you.
21.01.2022 On Tuesday 17 November at 7.00pm, our Guest Speaker will be Matt Cronin from the Pat Cronin Foundation. On Saturday 16 2016, Pat Cronin went to the Windy Mile in Diamond Creek for a quiet night and he was punched from behind whilst assisting a mate. He was later taken to hospital and two days later his family made the agonising decision to switch off his life support system. The Pat Cronin Foundation honours Pat by providing an optimistic voice to awareness, education and research about the coward punch. The Pat Cronin Foundation is dedicated to helping people feel empowered to make change through wise decisions. If you would like to hear this inspirational speaker please message us for the Zoom link.

18.01.2022 What community means to us? Our mural was created by the students of Strathewen Primary school and it represents the connection we have with our community. The ...design is of a tree of life with photos that show the community support given to our school. The cogs on the picture represents the connection between our school and community groups and how they engage with each other and work together to encourage and support the growth and development of our students. The Rotary clubs have provided us with the opportunity to have a fairy garden, pizza oven, bike trailer and to be part of the local Kinglake market. We have had the honour to have our students speak at the R.S.L. Anzac Day service in Diamond Creek. We have received funds from the Bendigo bank for a large-scale concert event involving many local schools. There has been community involvement in both centenary events and anniversaries as well as funding for our highly successful Strathewen and Arthurs Creek Bushfire Education Partnership. The support and encouragement of these community groups enables our school to offer our students a wide range of opportunities. 08.01.2022 As I look back on 2020, I reflect on how our lives have changed. The global COVID-19 pandemic brought pain and loss to many of us. And for almost all of us, our... daily lives, family time, and work also changed this year. But we've made it to the end of this difficult year, not on our own but by reaching out to one another, as we always do in Rotary. With each passing year, I become prouder of our organization.
