07.04.2022 A great night at Rotary tonight with two new members inducted. A very warm welcome to Tony Joyce and his wife Lyn, and John Riegert and his wife Layla. Tony joins us after relocating from Bridgetown where, in Rotary, he chaired the Blackwood Marathon committee for some years. Now retired, Tony and Lyn liverenmark in Cookernup and Tony enjoys golf and reading. John joins us with 18 years of Apex experience. Born in Harvey, John lived in Yarloop and went to Harvry High Sch...ool. John's great-grandfather, Otto, was the first Principal of Yarloop Primary School in 1910. A farmer for 10 years, John then went into the timber industry and started Jarrahco. John is starting to wind down in preparation for retirement and will enjoy spending more time with Layla as they indulge in camping, fishing, and diving in exotic places. Welcome to you all. Enjoying the evening were regulars Jim & Jan Turner, Bill Russell, Don Watts, Charlie & Christine Baggetta, Linda Parton, John & Margaret Lowe, Robyn & Steve Coleman. Also joining us was Paul & Sue Beech and Rusty Miller. A great Rotary night. See more
21.03.2022 What a wonderful Rotary meeting last night. Oliver Gracey, returned from his high sea adventures aboard the Tall Ship Leeuwin, was our guest speaker. A great crowd, including his proud parents Karen and Anton, and his grandparents, were highly entertained by Oliver's tales and his sense of humour. Our members are very proud to have sponsored such a vibrant young man, and as heads to Perth to undertake his Engineering degree, we look forward to keeping in touch.

08.02.2022 A BIG thank you to Harvey residents. With your support, the Rotary Club of Harvey has partnered with the Rotary San Juan West Club in the Philippines to support a Gift of Life project which provides life-saving heart surgery for children in their local hospital. Funds raised from our annual wood raffle support this project and members of our local Filipino community assisted in getting the funds to the Philippines. So far, three children have benefited from the project, with... more to come. The first patient we supported for her heart operation through Harvey community contributions was Bea, 5 years old, who comes from Surigao in Mindanao (pic 1). When the doctor informed the parents (pic 2) the mother was crying for joy. Two more patients have received life-saving procedures on at the Delos Santos Medical centre. The second patient is Trishia Panol, 10 years old from Antipolo City (yellow T-shirt). The third patient is Jared Buendia, 6 years old (red T-shirt). The Rotary Club of Harvey thanks all community members who contribute to our fundraising activities. Your support helps us support local artists, sponsor local students through schools, and helps saves lives in communities that are dear to the hearts of many residents in Harvey. Thank you Harvey !!! 21.01.2022 Club President Jim Turner represented the club at the opening of the 50th Harvey Art Prize on Friday and presented the prize for Best Themed Piece sponsored by Rotary Harvey to Christine Blowfield. The Art Prize was started back in 1968 by the Harvey Agricultural High School as a way to purchase original art for the school, and Jim Rake a Past President of the club and then secretary of the school P and C was there at the beginning. The Art Prize became a Rotary proje...ct in 1975 when the club agreed to sponsor it. Proceeds from the exhibition are used to purchase paintings which are displayed in the local art gallery. Some are also purchased by Harvey Shire for display in Shire offices. The Art Prize continued as a Rotary project for many years, usually being opened by the District Governor. Club involvement this year revives our involvement with this important local event. As an aside, Pinjarra club supply the display panels used in the exhibition. See more
