14.01.2022 Hastings Book Day On Tuesday 21st August the Rotary Club of Hastings Western Port again took part in the annual Book Day in High Street Hastings. High Street traders and student leaders from Western Port secondary College, St Marys Primary School, Wallaroo Primary School and Hastings Primary School dressed as their favourite picture book characters and read to around 200 kindergarten, prep and grade 1 students from all of the towns schools and early years services. Children a...nd their teachers also dressed as their favourite story book characters and walked from shop to shop listening to stories being read and enjoying sausages cooked by the Rotary Club of Hastings Western Port. A great fun day, showing children that reading is fun and that their town really cares about them. Hastings Book Day is part of the Hastings Linking Schools and Early Years partnership. The partnership of all the schools, early years’ services, community and church groups, local businesses, local and federal government offices and the Rotary Club of Hastings Western Port works to enhance the academic and social development of local children. It is a unique collaboration that demonstrates to children that their town really wants to help them. See more
