16.01.2022 We did our first presentation tonight in American River, with a good turn out for this small town and some great questions and ideas, as well as 2 firm expressi...ons of interest (we only need 8 to kick of a Rotary satellite club over here to be supported by Glenelg Rotary Club) Then we ate dinner at KI Tru Thai, which is on the main road just near the turn off to American River. It’s a quirky place on private property which only opens once a week and is located in a big shed in the middle of nowhere. Obviously the go to place in the area with heaps of locals, good food, open dining and great service. Well worth a visit. #wearerotary #peopleofactionRotar

10.01.2022 These Finalists are working hard to promote safe road practices across South Australia. McLaren Vale Rotary has successfully staged the ‘Mock Accident Roa...d Crash Prevention’, a realistic re-enactment of a crash staged on Main Road and performed by Year 12 drama class students, for the past twenty years. The event educates and provides a reality check for young people about issues they might face during and after being involved in a road accident. Royal Adelaide Hospital (P.A.R.T.Y. Program) is a one-day program where participants follow the journey of a trauma patient and spend time with healthcare professionals who work in the acute and rehabilitation sectors. The Program aims to decrease the frequency of alcohol and risk-related trauma among youth. Women in Trucking Australia provides a platform where women can come together to tackle the challenges female truckies face in the industry and address the enormous gap that exists in small vehicle driver education when it comes to road sharing. They received a Commonwealth Government grant to produce a heavy vehicle road safety Ad campaign. Which Jones Harley Toole Community Road Safety Award Finalist will you vote for in the People’s Choice Award poll https://awardsaustralia.app.do/2020-sacaa-choice-award

07.01.2022 Itty Bitty and Billy have been in our pre release enclosure for over a month . Pre release enclosures aim to achieve a few goals . First it allows or...phans and adult koalas that have undergone long term rehabilitation to build/ regain muscle by climbing real trees . Second it gives orphans a practice run at being wild in an environment where they can still be monitored for any health issue that might arise after being weaned off their bottles . Third it allows for dehumanisation which is vital in setting up any wild animal for success in the wild. Being wary of humans is a vital skill wildlife need to survive because a lot of the hazards they will face are man made such a cars and dogs .
