Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond the control of Foodbank SA, the truck will not be coming on Wednesday 16 June 2021. However, there will be a ute full of free vegetables, bread and other items coming that Wednesday. The ute will be there by 10:30am ready to go! If you are unable to get there before 12:00noon, any surplus will be taken to UnitingCare at the hub in Main Street.

16.01.2022 On behalf of The Rotary Club of Peterborough, we would like to thank the following people whom, without their help and assistance our Yunta and Peterborough hay run and Movie night in Yunta would not happen. Our wonderful Rotary Clubs, RC of Adelaide, RC of Port Pirie, RC of Burnside and RC of St. Peters, thank you for your generous donation of money so we were able to purchase hay to share with our graziers and farmers. Your continued assistance in this project has been rema...rkable. Collectively we have been able to take some of the pressure from them. They can now feed out some hay to supplement. Thank you to Daniel Kitschke for carting the hay to Yunta. It took several loads and it was very much appreciated. Thank you to Yunta Racecourse Committee for allowing us once again to use your grounds as a drop off/collection point. Thank you, Warren, for assisting in unloading and loading. Due to the weather conditions we had to change our venue for the Movie Night. Thank you to the Tennis Club committee for allowing us to make use of your facilities. When the winds dropped it was a lovely night to sit out under the stars and watch an iconic Australian Movie. Thank you to John Simpson for providing the film. We had to cancel the film night at Peterborough on the Sunday due to the weather conditions but the Hay Run still went ahead on the following Friday. Some special shout outs to the following people who, without their assistance, this project would never have got off of the ground. Thank you, Mid North Freight and John Murphy for carting and storing hay on your block. Philip Johns for his donation of hay; thank you. Ray Hotchin thank you for loading the 20 farmers with hay. Mark Ludgate for helping to co-ordinate the Yunta and Peterborough Hay runs. We will be running the Movie Night in December for Peterborough, watch this space for more details. #rotaryclubofpeterboroughsa #proudrotarian

02.01.2022 Coordinator-General Shane Stone and the Agency team spent time in District Council of Peterborough yesterday talking to local council. They heard about the Aust...ralian Government’s Drought Communities Programme funding that has been used to upgrade local amenities to ensure visitors to town are well looked after. Peterborough has a rich history as a historic railway town, and you don’t have to travel far down the main street to find a locomotive for the kids to get up close to. Spotting ‘Bob the Dog’ and a visit to Steamtown Heritage Rail Centre are definitely must dos! The team also had the privilege of meeting Colleen Grove-Jones and Evie Oras from The Tinsmith's Cottage two local legends who have been heavily involved in organising water runs to provide drinking water to farmers in the surrounding area. Evie has baked hundreds of cupcakes to raise money to support her community. She always offers a cuppa and a friendly ear when people visit her coffee shop and need some TLC. Colleen is well connected to farmers in the region through her job at the local Elders office, and swung into action when she heard that people were coming in to grab drinking water and to shower at friend’s homes because they had no water left in their tanks. Community spirit is alive and well in regional Australia, and if you’re looking for a great holiday spot check out Peterborough they’re open for business.
