22.01.2022 We have been busy kicking goals the past few months. We have been trialling new equipment, Ben is now officially toilet trained both day and night one down o...ne to go we have had our first family trike ride on our new bodycycle special needs trikes. The smiles said it all. The boys have completed another block of therapy thanks to the team at Rothwell Physiotherapy. Wow, what an intensive! I am so proud of how much they both put in and todays ability speaks volumes. Ben is working on strength as he is weaker. William has been working on walking. We offer a pre-pointe assessment to determine a dancers readiness to begin pointe work. ... The includes assessing pointe range, foot and ankle strength and mobility, turnout control, pelvic stability, and core strength. The therapist will identify any risk factors or areas to work on to enable safe progression to pointe work. The dancer will be provided with a tailed home exercise program to work on until their next appointment. After the assessment, a complete report will be provided to the dancers parents and dance teacher. 10.01.2022 Did you know that a weak Serratus Anterior muscle could impact your swimming performance and increase your risk of getting an injury? The Serratus Anterior (SA)... muscles function is to stabilise the shoulder blade while performing shoulder movements in activities like swimming. It constantly fires during the freestyle and butterfly strokes; however, it decreases in activity if it fatigues and in painful shoulders. In swimming the shoulder is the most commonly injured joint and if you are weak in your SA muscle you are likely to alter your swimming stroke mechanics and increase your risk of getting a shoulder injury. If you are prone to getting shoulder injuries then you may benefit from serratus anterior strength exercises. A physiotherapist can assess your SA strength and give you guidance on strengthening this muscle.
