08.01.2022 Way out West this weekend. Yesterday headed to Creswick Folk Music Club which met inside a very cute room within the railway station. The 74 year old women in t...he middle has been playing guitar for 50 years and one of her originals she sung was my favourite song. It was a song circle...one of the sweetest types of open mics. I did 4 song and might put up a video when on a computer. But for now here is a photo Because next up after a night in Ballarat and morning yoga time..I am heading to next West stop "Flower Press Music" Recording Studio. With up to 10 hours of recording time I hope to get assistance recording 4 things because as soon as they are done, & I finally acquire a laptop for video...well then for 2 yeard my music projects simply revolve around doing "MUSIC MONDAYS". A free music video put online most Mondays, JUST FOR THE LOVE OF IT and slowing down Live events...unles booked for a handful of events in the year which are built up in quality due to less divided time. Hopefully recording day goes well and in smooth timing the 3rd West side happening for the weekend ...private event near Hepburn. Victoria Australia is a great place for a muso. There are atleast 70 searchable open mics/song circles. Not even mentioning places to see a Live performances in countless establishments or events, or simply meeting someone to jam or co-create a form of art, activity or project. It has been fun since making the Life, Love and Common Good CD going to a small fraction of what is out there. But intentionally to focus on a new job my next main project is from home (Music Mondaysfor 2 years) so I can maintain a sleep routine and practice enough in order for quality sets :) Also many people at open mics who are on multiple instruments have several years on me. my tour has gone well the past year, but now it is time to sit on the balcony 80% after being on the dance floor 80%. So in the wider scheme of things this is going to be a great campaign for many reasons. Each video wont have a description, it will just be the clip...and hopefully it can be shared. All the uploading and video trimming will be done on the train trips into the city for a day job. Excited to be expressing my values in a new shake up of mediums

07.01.2022 The band continues to move towards our next recording session in mid August. We are honing our efforts to produce the best version of the songs we can, practicing several hours each week and developing new harmonies vocally and musically. Marks considerable talent as a lead guitarist is developing in complexity and confidence, Carolyns sensitive lead singing performances evoke emotion and empathy. Shirley continues as a well experienced folk scene elder in harmony with the other band members. We look forward to sharing our CD launch with you later this year!

06.01.2022 Snippets from our CD launch will be appearing soon. For those asking about our new CD "Far from home", email Carolyn [email protected] with your details.

04.01.2022 Mark, Shirley and Carolyn enjoying a laugh while working at Kingston

04.01.2022 Roundabout Folk Bands music includes meaningful songs from three excellent singers with beautifully blended harmonies accompanied by guitar, dobro, harmonica banjo and light percussion. Their repetiore includes heartfelt and wistful ballads, bluegrass style songs, and blues- some original, some by songwriters they relate to and enjoy. Carolyn Garvey, Mark Myers and Shirley Watson met by chance at the Creswick Neighbourhood Centre. Their love of music led them to spend hours of jamming at home in Kingston Victoria and to form Roundabout Folk Band. Together they co-founded Creswick Folk Music Club and they play there regularly twice a month. Collectively, they perform at many local and diverse gigs, including some overseas, as solo artists and as a band. An album is in production -out later this year.

03.01.2022 Carolyn and Mark are at Port Fairy Folk Festival performing as Roundabout Folk Band at the Open Stage at 3:40 pm Saturday.
