08.01.2022 Four of our best head to Sydney for U/16 State Champs . Four players from FNCS will be travelling to Sydney this weekend to take part in the Under 16 Softball ...NSW State Championships. Normally, both the girls and boys tournament would have been hosted by Georges River Softball Association, but due to COVID restrictions the championships will be shared over two different venues. Lachlan Coe and Oliver Shield who play for Casino’s Division 1 team have been picked up to play for Sutherland Softball Association which has seen their competition moved to the Softball Campbelltown fields in Ingleburn. Both boys have been inspiring softballer's for the last three years, while Coe has been playing since he was 10 years old. Both have played for the NSW Country teams who compete at the Australian U/15 Regional Championships, with Coe making the NSW U/16 State Squad last year. Coe is an established pivot playing confident either at shortstop or secondbase, as well being an outstanding outfielder. Shields is brilliant in the outfield and together with their batting accomplishments will bring plenty of experience to the Sutherland side. Sharmeeka McPaul, who plays for Rous Hotel Warriors and Ella Keep who is a member of the Casino Cougars side will be playing in a combined invitational team from Associations across the State. It’s not the first time McPaul as been picked up by a Sydney Association to play at a State Championship, and has a catcher is often sort after. She has gained incredible experience in recent years filling in for other Associations. For Keep, this will be her first time attending a Championship and the experience will only enhance her skills. Ella has only been playing the sport for the last two years and has a great passion for the sport. All players have been training hard within their respective Clubs with a last minute hit out for all four players on Wednesday. FNC Softball wish all four players and their teams, the best of luck.
