25.01.2022 Well the Xmas boxes for the soldiers serving overseas are all packed.Every item is wrapped and they will have fun making a mess in the mess- maybe even feel like xmas when they were kids. Only 52 boxes this year, but I have to sign 3 times on the forms and boxes - should have gone back to my maiden name.
25.01.2022 When you can't go to Tahiti why not bring the Tahiti to you and invite the girls over for a chat? Thats what I did and was fun.
24.01.2022 We had a visit from our inaugural VQ Laurel Leslie, some of you might remember her with the stylish hairstyle = still kept. She dropped in on her trip from Yass to say hi and catch up with her old neighbours. Of course some of the girls had their xmas photo taken. One more practice NYE luncheon for the year and then we will get ready for a fun 2021. Donna front reception for Umina Bowling Club had to have a photo to show her grandchildren in years to come what 2020 xmas was like. Merry Xmas to you all and here's hoping we catch up somewhere next year.
24.01.2022 Our Leonie, Lady Chat a Lot, has given our Circle of Friends a new look and they are ready to be displayed on our meeting tables - soon we hope.
24.01.2022 The Roving Rubies along with 2 other branches celebrated birthdays and Mother's Day with a great luncheon at Willows for 60 red hatters. We had a waiting list of 10 but could not fit any more in. WE MADE IT sang happy birthday to our Betty 94 and danced a little before the covid slap down. Good day and nice to see so many girls together. Queens Di from Hunter Valley, Helen and Suzanne co Queens Castle Hilland Queen Lilimarlene of Roving Rubies.
23.01.2022 Ran out of 4 so Betty was 90 Again.
23.01.2022 Coming soon to a place near you - Hurrah
22.01.2022 Pleasant surprise to open up the Seniors Magazine and spot a photo of our Judy and a great write up....bring on the breakout party yeh!
22.01.2022 The poppy nets we made years ago have been installed at the Gosford foreshore and around the Memorial. Great salute to our soldiers.
22.01.2022 It is with deep regret that I tell you of the passing of the lovely Queen Jessie of the Happy Hearts of Maroubra. It was very sudden and we send our deep condolences to the line dancing girls of the Happy Hearts and her family. Just so glad I have these 2 lovely photos to keep with the memories..
21.01.2022 Great to catch up with 5 of the Rubies yesterday for a cuppa - can't wait to hold the first of the big luncheons on Thursday 2nd July. Wanted to share my non Hawaii trip. that went into cyber space, with the girls in the photos. Dn't worry they shared a car on the way over so social distancing wasn't an issue for a quick photo.
20.01.2022 We celebrated our Dame Edna's 97th birthday with a special event at the lovely Willows. It was a Clayton's Cruise, the one you have when you can't get on one. Everyone came dressed for the Captains table. There was even some entertainment, but alas without the planned dancing from Shirley and Dolores. Great day. PS Lesly and Cathy couldn't decide on staying in board or taking a shore excursion.
20.01.2022 Here is the latest display of poppies that we made for Rembrance Day 1th November on display at St Mary's church, Gosford.
19.01.2022 It is with deep regret I advise the passing of our Nikki the Notorious after a long battle with cancer, passed away peacefully on Thursday. She will be remembered for her notorious hats and sense of humour and dressing her pup is suitable red hat attire, including toenails to match hers.
16.01.2022 Getting ready for Happy Days are Here Again, lovely hot weather, and checking our cruising boats are all in order. Much to the amusement of the passing traffic with lots of horn honking approval. Imagine life without Red Hatters - awful.
14.01.2022 Oh oh thought we had lost 2 red hatters.....found them!
11.01.2022 Lots of passing traffic approval as little Margaret pedalled off.
10.01.2022 Best royal carriage
08.01.2022 47 surprise xmas boxes (with everything wrapped individually) were sent off for the soldiers serving overseas. Hope they have as much fun as last year. Loaded into the new BETTY BOOP NO. 3. Missed the ute have found a substitute now yeh!
08.01.2022 Finally getting smaller groups together like today at the 3 Naughty Boys in Kincumber .Look at the fabulous food QM ordered and enjoyed, and good to hear "don't you girls look good in your purple and hats again". Am sure it lifts up the spirits of the girls.
08.01.2022 If you are ever up at fantastic Port Macquarie NSW, go for a walk along the rocks, stop at the caravan park and skate park fence and look at our Roving Rubies Rock. Take your photo (curtsying maybe)with it and take a waterproof marker pen and sign your name too. QM Lilimarlene first did it in 2008 and has just blinged it so does stand out. ALSO catch up with Capt Dave on a sunset cruise - still the same sense of humour, enjoy pizza and dessert is ice-cream and malteesers. Tell him if you are a red hatter.
08.01.2022 We are celebrating our 17th birthday in small gatherings - darn - not the big party on the Sydney Harbour as we had planned. Some of us went to a cute cafe - the Kincumber Old Post Office Cafe and others went to Pelican's pub at Woy Woy. Can't wait for the numbers to increase and get all back together, normally we would have a hundred at the birthday party. The masks are getting creative.
05.01.2022 QM Marlene decided that her and the Vice Queens should have a bit of lip sucking - like the kids do - does it improve? We have booked this place for the first Thursday of the even months, with a limit of 40 at the moment.......but are planning the party for up to 100 and be able to invite other red hat sisters - yeh!
04.01.2022 QM Lilimarlene issued the challenge to photograph red hats in the beautiful tibouchina trees that are flowering at the moment - even nature knows that red and purple go together, but there is a new twist - think called hanging loose!
04.01.2022 The challenge went out for the most number of red hats owned and today was my count day. Good to get them all out and sort - found my winter ones had forgotten about. The challenge count 63 red Hats 4 Purple Hats 29 Fascinators...... Did not include a few caps and beanies. So how good is this - not a hoarder but a grand collector???? See more
03.01.2022 Superb effort by my nephew - fantastic
01.01.2022 The Roving Rubies celebrated Jeans for Genes day with lunch at different pubs, as they can only take a booking of 10 at each. I am trying to spread the luncheons around the Coast so everyone will get a chance to catch up with the girls. The Pelican girls and the Kincumber Pub group had a good time.
01.01.2022 It is a start - coffee and the best bacon and egg roll at Avoca Beach with Duchess of Darts and Marquess Merrybold on a lovely sunny day. Bring more on.
