24.01.2022 We made the decision this year to extend our shed. It means more room for more rams and a better set up for the sale. It also helped this year being able to set up chairs further apart to help with Covid restrictions. The team from Industrial Constructions sheds and garages, Young were brilliant. They came out and had a look and got a quote back really quickly. And, even with many rain delays had it up super quick and ready for this years sale. We highly recommend giving them a call for all your shed, garage, welding and concreting needs.

23.01.2022 Happy international dog day! Share your best dog joke

21.01.2022 They say there’s only a week between a good haircut and a bad haircut. I don’t think the same can be said for a shearing job. Now don’t get me wrong you won’t find me shearing our rams. They are big and heavy and fight like there’s no tomorrow. So last year when a client invited us to see their rams being shorn we went for a look. Needless to say this year we had Ram Man NSW bring his trailer and give the boys a tidy up. They were clean cut and consistent and couldn’t have looked better. So if you need your rams shorn we would highly recommend giving Tim a call.

20.01.2022 I keep telling the girls that their babies are the cutest ever.... Which is not exactly true because every Kung Fu baby is the cutest ever. I have never seen one that wasn’t adorable. It does make it really hard to count them when I continually have to stop to take photos of the cutest ones (which like I said is all of them).... It can take me a few attempts to get through them all.

19.01.2022 Hour 459 million without power... Yes that is a slight exaggeration we are only up to hour 49. Believe it or not we have been through worse. Around 14 years ago we were without power for 3 or 4 days after a massive dust storm. The Essential Energy team are scurrying around like little rabbits everywhere at the moment and I want to thank them for their massive efforts getting all the power restored. They have to go out in the weather we hide inside from so that we don’t have t...o be inconvenienced without lights and phone chargers for a few hours. I read somewhere this morning that there is around a hundred homes still without power. Maybe next time though we could do a swapsies and we could be in the first hundred.... I know of at least 6 or 7 poles down around this area alone so god only knows how many more there actually were. The damage was pretty extensive here. We do have a generator to keep the fridge and freezer ticking over because that would not be fun to have to throw out all that food. See more

19.01.2022 This little rascal decided she wanted to hang out with the big kids today. Now I’d have taken her home but I was overruled and so we went to find her mum. I should have strapped her in though, she kept setting off the seat alarm.

19.01.2022 We, like everyone else at the moment, are taking advantage of the season and making some silage. I was very excited when I finished up last night and the boys from Butt Baling gave me one of their hats (which I have secretly wanted since they had them made). Thanks Charlie for the hat and Glen for the beer. You can’t really see it properly in the other photo but at one stage we had 8 vehicles in one paddock and only 4 people.... You’d think we were cutting thousands of acres. Thankfully it’s all done, buried and under cover.

18.01.2022 We were lucky enough to have a friend back in the area around ram sale time who was coming to take a look at the sale and also happens to be a very talented photographer. He hasn’t been doing his normal job due to Covid so Rugby’s loss was our gain. He has given us some cracking photos. Check out his page Stuart Walmsley - Photojournalist. He even brought along his drone to have a play.

18.01.2022 What happens when you leave the bulls unattended in a paddock with piles of lime? Well as you can imagine the result is two white bulls. Luckily for Fuey he is my favourite bull of all time so he can do whatever he likes. Judging by the amount of footprints in the lime and how much he has on him he has been having a great time.

17.01.2022 Sale day is rolling around quickly. We can’t wait to see you all on Friday. Just a few bits of housekeeping to help the day run smoothly. On arrival can everyone please head straight to the office to sign in and sanitise. Even if you are registering we require a Covid sign in too. We need everyone to make sure to keep 1.5 metres away from each other. Please don’t gather in the shed, office and food areas. There is plenty of sanitiser and we are working to disinfect everyth...ing. We also have masks if you would like them. We don’t want to get bogged down in red tape but we want everyone safe and some of these are restrictions we have to follow. We hope to see you all on Friday from 11:30. See more

15.01.2022 A great article by Hannah from The land. I just need to make a change a couple of apologies. As most of you would know it was not in fact our 4th Annual Sale but our 14th. A repeat and volume buyer not included in the article was Tiverton Partnership, Harden. Tiverton put together 12 rams to a top of $1600, twice, and an average of $1217. Thanks Tiverton Partnership and apologies for the omission. Woornack Pastoral Co, Young's top price was $2700. Thanks Woornack Pastoral. And Paraway Pastoral, Wagga Wagga purchased 12 rams. Thanks Paraway Pastoral. Thank you to everyone who came and made the day so successful. We appreciate each and every one of you.

15.01.2022 Wheat. Canola’s sadder, uglier cousin. Much like the canola a few weeks ago, it’s wheats turn to go yellow. Thankfully I am yet to see anyone losing their mind about yellow wheat. There are many things I like about poor, underrated wheat. Most importantly cake. But also bread and pasta. Not to mention how much easier it is at sowing, and not feeling as bad for tipping it on the roof of the header or off the side of the truck at harvest. So thanks wheat for being so versatile and yet not attracting people onto the property unnecessarily.

15.01.2022 I am a sucker for punishment. This is my first go at purebred merino poddies. The wrinkly one is a boy (and also a drama queen). On my first attempt at feeding him, in true merino style, he dropped to the ground like a rock and played dead. I explained that trying to feed him with his head on the ground wasn’t helpful and after about a week they both finally came around and are doing well.

14.01.2022 There’s a few years worth of Yabbie memories right there.... Though apparently there’s a few missing. We are proud to sponsor the Young Yabbies Rugby Union Football Club and wish the boys the best of luck tomorrow in the Grand Final. Up the Yabs. Nip Nip

13.01.2022 The Young Yabbies 2021 Training kicks off this Tuesday with some social touch! All welcome to attend we look forward to seeing old and new faces there! The d...etails: Tuesday 19th January 6.30pm Cranfield Oval Tag a mate who needs to get to training! Nip Nip

13.01.2022 Just a quick sale update. 160/164 sold. Top price $2800 thrice and average $1678. Photos and more details to come. Thanks to everyone who came and helped make it such a successful day.

12.01.2022 We have been getting quite a bit of rain here lately. We won’t complain because we haven’t had nearly as much as some places and others haven’t had much at all. Plus we just spent the last few years complaining about how dry it was. Apparently Facebook won’t let me add both videos and photos at the same time which is dumb, so I’ll just have to do them over a few posts.

12.01.2022 It has been nice finally having grain to harvest again this year. It has however felt like we have been going for a hundred years already. Some pretty crappy harvest photos. Sorry the windows always seem to be filthy so they look a bit rubbish. But you get the idea.

12.01.2022 You just never know what you’ll find up a power pole. I guess he was probably just checking the lines.

11.01.2022 We have also had to bring out the straps and chains because with rain machinery gets bogged.

07.01.2022 Hopefully if you had those horrendous storms this afternoon you all survived okay. Matt had not long left in the truck to GrainCorp and I was on the header trying to beat the rain when it hit. The wind was like nothing I’ve ever seen and the rain was horizontal. The tarp was off the chaser bin so that was fun to get on. When it was all over I had to walk back to the road and found trees down everywhere. We also have a power line down in a front paddock. So I grabbed the trust...y loader and we got to work getting as much off the road to free up traffic. It was like being a rock star. Everyone was waving and giving me a thumbs up. It’s nice to be appreciated. Now to tally up the fencing costs from all the tress down and seeing how much canola is still in rows. Nothing like a bit of excitement for a Monday. Nope actually it’s Tuesday... it’s been a long week. See more

03.01.2022 There have been a few storms around today. Thankfully none have hit us. We have been hearing so many stories of farmer’s crops being devastated by storms and it’s hard to imagine after all the bad years being so close to harvest and losing it all. Which is why when people comment on what a great harvest we will have my response is always ‘it’s not in the bank yet. There’s still a long way to go’.

01.01.2022 And the catalogues are out. Usually I’d say sit by your mailbox but given the circumstances probably don’t do that. Maybe just keep watch from a safe distance instead. If you aren’t expecting a copy but would like one let me know and I’ll get it out A SAP. The electronic version will be up on the website soon. If you’d like to see it right now, message me and I can send you a copy. The countdown is on. Please excuse the semi blue finger.... it’s lambing season.
