25.01.2022 Did you know that prior to the 1930's, engagement rings rarely had diamonds? This is because diamonds were super rare and subsequently expensive. This all changed in the 1870's when a HUGE diamond mine was discovered in South Africa Diamonds were being scooped out by the tonne! The value of diamonds was all in their scarcity, and now the major driving factor for price had disappeared. Enter stage left, De Beers Consolidated Mines, Ltd., who acquired the monopoly on di...amonds In 1937, De Beers launched their "A Diamond is Forever" campaign. This changed the course of history and had people throwing three months of their annual income on a shiny rock Doing anything less meant that you OBVIOUSLY didn't love your fiancé Perhaps it's time that we relearn how to think, especially when our desires are tied up in a century old marketing campaign... Consumers are smarter today. Fast fashion has slowed down, vegetarianism and veganism is on the rise and people are concerned about the ethical and environmental impacts of their purchases I launched the Dianne Rowe Private Collection because I wanted to create and share pieces that are good for the environment, humanity and the soul I love working with mining and exploitation free diamonds. These gemstones are grown in a lab under optimal conditions to bring you the most jaw-dropping clarity and colour for a fraction of the price of it's mined sister. These Diamonds are created without open pit and underground mines which have huge, long lasting environmental impacts, and are free from human (and child) exploitation. Be the change.
