24.01.2022 I was pleased to be able to spend some time with students from Cyril Jackson Senior Campus this morning to talk about small business and running a modern accounting firm. Nice bunch of students (and teachers) - the future is looking bright!

22.01.2022 Two more bits of news to share: 1. We now have 100 likes on this Facebook page - thanks to all of you, we really appreciate your support. 2. We've just agreed to a one-year extension on our lease here in downtown Basso, meaning we'll be here until at least early 2020.

22.01.2022 Come along on Sunday April 8!

21.01.2022 Join me at the Cork and Bottle tonight as we help shape the Town of Bassendean's local economic strategy. I've been part of the early discussions for this and it's important that as many voices are heard as possible, so for the locals, please come along!

20.01.2022 We're closed for Christmas, and will be back on Thursday 3 January 2019. Seeya!

18.01.2022 As promised, here's the interview I did last week with Nick Bruining on the Don't Panic! radio show, broadcast across Western Australia. Kicks in at 3.44. Oh, and I'm going to be on this week's show as well. Media Street, here I come!

17.01.2022 Do you AirBnB your property? You might want to read this.

16.01.2022 Elliott Brannen, Director of Tempo Tax and Accounting in Bassendean on Thursday, May 16, 2018.

15.01.2022 Hi there folks! Here's me on Seven News the other night talking about the special tax deduction available during the COVID-19 Pandemic. EB.

14.01.2022 It's almost that time of year again, so Channel Seven News dropped by to ask me what the Tax Office are looking at this year. Preview is here - full story tonight at 6pm!

14.01.2022 So there's a thing called the SMSF and Accounting Awards, and we got nominated for two of them. Happy Friday!

14.01.2022 One for the locals - Please come along to the Dome Bassendean this Friday at 9am to hear about what's been going on with the Town of Bassendean's Economic Development Committee, and to meet with other local business owners.

13.01.2022 I'm back! It still might take a day or two to catch up so thanks in advance for your patience. Mental note: book a holiday some time next year. EB

12.01.2022 As part of my role with the Town of Bassendean's Economic Development Committee, I attended a business owners' forum discussing the future of Old Perth Rd earlier this week. As Renée McLennan, Bassendean Mayor says, it's just the start of a conversation to revitalise this important and historic part of our town. The most important people in this conversation aren't the business owners, though - it's the community; the people who will use the shops and other services. So if anyone has an idea for what they would like to see OPR look like, please get in touch with the council using the contact details in Renee's post, or I am happy to be a conduit. Elliott

12.01.2022 Nice video of what's going on here in Bassendean. We've loved living and working here, and long may it continue. (And good to see some familiar faces taking part, too.)

12.01.2022 Last week, I spoke to 7 News Perth about the Tax Office's crackdown on claims for work-related tax deductions. And yes, they do this every year, but there is extra money in the Federal Budget to find people doing the wrong thing, and it is working. If you have any questions, feel free to give me a shout. EB

11.01.2022 Here are the hard copy versions of the comments Elliott made in the Eastern Reporter this week about some of the things going on locally here in Bassendean.

11.01.2022 Couple of years old but a fascinating look at how Radiohead (and others) use business structures to manage different income streams and protect themselves in the event anything went wrong:

10.01.2022 Happy to support this, a lot of people doing it very tough at the moment.

10.01.2022 6 Steps to finally turn what you love into a business

09.01.2022 More good things happening in Bassendean - with Elliott quoted extensively in this article.

09.01.2022 So we've now lodged more tax returns in the past four months than we did for the whole 2017/18 financial year. Thanks to all of our wonderful clients, particularly those who have told their friends to come along. We genuinely appreciate your support.

07.01.2022 Please note our office will be closed until Monday 17 September as it's time for what's known in the trade as a well-earned break. You can still email us at [email protected] and we'll get on to it once we get back.

06.01.2022 At 18:15 in, I decide to get a little political: "Facebook and Google don't pay any tax yet I've gotta ask people how many time they wash their clothes. It's a little bit ludicrous." Thanks to Nick Bruining for having me on again - EB

05.01.2022 Wimbledon starts tonight, and if you've ever wondered how tennis players negotiate the different tax systems around the world, wonder no more. Here's Kelsey Anderson, accountant (and wife of men's 4th seed Kevin Anderson) to tell the story

05.01.2022 The Town of Bassendean is developing its new Arts and Cultural Plan, and is asking for contributions from people in the local area or those with an interest in these areas. It includes things like the Outdoor Community Cinema (an offshoot of Movies by Burswood), NAIDOC celebrations, use of cultural facilities like community halls and libraries, and support for local artists. Please hit the link and complete the survey - your contribution will make for better outcomes.

04.01.2022 Huge news for the eastern suburbs. The more of this work that gets done in WA, the better it will be for our economy. And as the grandson of a train driver who started his working life at the Midland Railway Workshops, I say well done to the State Government. EB.

04.01.2022 A quick note on the Government's stimulus package - while the bare bones of it has been announced, there is a lot of detail still up in the air. I've tried a couple of times to ring the Tax Office to ask for answers but the answer is always "we don't know either, wait for the legislation". So, please sit tight - I'll let you know hopefully next week. ... EB

03.01.2022 Open on Saturday mornings for another couple of weeks. Book at tempotax.com.au, call 9377 1546 or drop in at Hawaiian's Bassendean. First appointments available from 9.30am.

03.01.2022 Just did a statewide radio interview about Labor's proposed changes to franking credit refunds. Will post the link when its available.

03.01.2022 Hi all, just a note to say I've been laid low with illness so the office will be closed until Monday. Apologies for any inconvenience. EB.

03.01.2022 I was honoured to be invited to the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner held by the Town of Bassendean recently. It's been great to be a part of the Economic Development Committee, helping to grow the economic base in this lovely part of town that I call home. There are people doing some truly remarkable things in their community, and I encourage you to do whatever you can to help, too. Just another pair of hands, or a couple of hours a month, can have a benefit greater than you... might imagine. EB PS, yes there is a photo of me in there somewhere....

02.01.2022 Wow, 97.7% of tax returns lodged on time in the 2018 financial year! Thanks to all of our wonderful clients and staff for making it happen.

01.01.2022 The one thing I hate more than people paying more tax than they should is people who cheat the system. And that's what this is about - don't cheat the system and you'll be fine.
