28.04.2022 Well done to the 17 people that gave up a few hours this morning, to give the Royal Canal through Mullingar a clean up. Although we didn't cover as great a distance as before, we still collected a substantial amount of rubbish, with a few more bags to be collected later on. We'll liase with Mullingar Canoe Club in the coming weeks and will more than likely give them a hand around the Harbour, before the National Canoe Polo championships to make sure it's spotless for t...he visiting competitors and their families.....! Was great to see and meet families visiting the area to use our wonderful facilities and amenities!!!!! See more
11.04.2022 12 generous people have given up their Saturday morning to collect rubbish along the Canal. If anyone turns up now, Alan in Bike Hire in the Harbour has all the stuff needed to head out.....
01.04.2022 For obvious reasons, numbers for the clean-up on Saturday looks like they'll be lower than any other one we did, but we'll still give it a go. We can do the clean-up, with the Irish National Canoe Polo championships in mind, as the Championships are on in Mullingar for the first ever time, at the end of the Month, so we'll at least get the Dublin Bridge to the Green Bridge spotless, so any visitors going for a little walk will be suitably impressed at what Mullingar can host/offer! Anybody interested in helping out, we'll be at the Harbour from 09:30.......
09.03.2022 I had a few reports come in about heavy littering along the Canal, so how does everyone feel about getting out on the 8th of August @ 10am for an hour or two? Meeting in the usual place, in the Harbour compound, off Harbour Road / Harbour Street! On another note, the Council are currently working on a development plan in regard to litter. So I'm planning on putting together a submission in regard to littering, litter and general environmental stuff around the Town, but with ...particular focus on the Canal. What I'd like to receive is ideas from people that actually bother to get out do something about the litter, instead of just talking about it, so if you have ideas, plans, issues (around Town) or ways that Mullingar could be improved, especially with Fleadh 2021 in mind, then please get in touch, preferably by email: [email protected] Together we'll make Mullingar a little bit more of a pleasant destination for the Tourists, but especially for us residents....... Yours to a Clean Town/Canal CW
05.03.2022 This is a photo of the Grand Canal basin in Dubin!!! I swear the Royal Canal through Mullingar will never look like this (again) in my life time. I remember the 80's, when the Royal did look like this in Mullingar.
19.02.2022 Let's make a big push to support this venture! **They've had an extremely tough year after their outboard engine on the Edwin G was stolen earlier in the year** Ourselves and Mullingar RCCG work very closely together to enhance and drive the endless possibilities of the Canal through Mullingar....
14.02.2022 Can't say I'm suprised, considering the amount of rubbish that was collected from the Canal in the Mullingar area. In 3 months, we've taken out just short of seventy [70] bags of rubbish, not to mention trolleys, mattresses and signs....!
31.01.2022 Well done everyone that turned out this morning for the monthly clean up. 11 full black bags of rubbish collected in wonderful weather. Going to do one more clean up (hopefully the 3rd Saturday in September), before giving it a break till the Spring. Although we won't we cleaning over the winter, we will be planning on hanging baskets from bridge to bridge and setting a floral 'welcome to Mullingar' for the East side Harbour. Any ideas, don't hesitate to get in touch!!!

20.01.2022 **CLEAN UP CANCELLED** The clean up tomorrow is postponed due to forecasted bad weather. With thunderstorms and a yellow weather warning issued, there's no point in calling it off, last minute in the morning. Rescheduling for the 24th of August, same time and place.... **PLEASE PASS ON THE WORD**

04.01.2022 This should be of interest to anyone that uses the Royal Canal in the Mullingar area. Just two hours of a gental walk, with a little litter picking thrown in....! Please feel free to share
02.01.2022 Weather forecast for tomorrow isn't great, we'll play it by ear in the morning! Don't want anyone ending up with pneumonia!!!
