09.01.2022 HOME TALENT - AUSTRALIA'S ITINERANT FILMMAKERS Our last free online Day Lecture for 2020 is fast-approaching. RAHS Councillor and former NFSA - National Film and Sound Archive of Australia Historian Graham Shirley will present on travelling film exhibitors from the 1920s to 1940s. The presentation will also look at a stock standard script, 'The Adventures of Dot', which was repeatedly filmed as directors and cameraman travelled from town to town. 06.01.2022 RAHS SUMMER BOOK SALE The RAHS invites our members and friends to our ticketed book sale at History House from Monday 30 November to Friday 4 December. The book sale will run between 10am 2.45pm, with a limit of ten visitors per each one-hour session. In line with current COVID-19 safety recommendations, ticket holders will need to sign-in and follow social-distancing guidelines. Books for sale are primarily Australian and South Pacific publications and include encyclopaedi...c works, directories, biographies, literary fiction, pictorial books, facsimile editions of early publications and a small collection of rare books. We will also have excess of JRAHS and History Magazine editions available and a small number of new publications on sale. The book sale is part of History House Project preparations. The RAHS is currently deaccessioning duplicates, multiple editions, excess and unrequired items from the RAHS library collection. The collection will then be safely stored away during construction.
