11.01.2022 The eighth Guardian class Patrol Boat (GPB) built as part of the Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project was gifted by the Australian Defence Force to the people of Tonga on Friday 30 October 2020. Head of Maritime Systems Rear Admiral Wendy Malcolm, CSM, RAN, representing the Chief of the Defence Force, General Angus Campbell, accepted the vessel from Austal in an initial handover ceremony before presenting the vessel to Her Royal Highness Princess Ltfuipeka Tukuaho of Tonga, High Commissioner of Tonga to Australia.

10.01.2022 HMAS Armidale (II) conducted a commemoration on the wreck site of HMAS Armidale (I) recently. The former Royal Australian Navy corvette was sunk off the coast of what is now Timor-Leste by Japanese aircraft during World War Two. The lives of 100 crew members were lost as a result of the attack, including that of Ordinary Seaman Edward ‘Teddy’ Sheean’. 02.01.2022 HMAS Arunta conducted an all-ship Damage Control Exercise on November 20, 2020 as the ship made its way back to its homeport of Fleet Base West, Western Australia after a five-month deployment. HMAS Arunta sailed from the Port of Darwin on 11 October for a six-week regional deployment, undertaking a number of engagements. The ADF is committed to strengthening the longstanding security partnerships across Southeast Asia.
