08.03.2022 Supervision is the single most important thing you can do to keep your children safe around water. Any distraction is dangerous and puts young children at risk around water. Whether it is a phone or social media use, or carrying out everyday tasks, such as leaving a child unsupervised momentarily to cook, take the rubbish out or collect the washing, no task is worth your child’s life... Royal Life Saving is asking all parents to Supervise, Restrict, Teach and Respond to keep their children safe around water. Because ‘Kids can’t help themselves around water, you need to.’ https://bit.ly/3wFnIpG #keepwatch

13.02.2022 Remember not to neglect teaching how to enter water safely in lessons. 05.02.2022 Research shows that almost half of 12 year-olds can’t swim continuously for 50 metres or float for 2 minutes in deep water a basic swimming and water safety benchmark. Disturbingly, COVID-19 led closures have amplified a long-term trend of children in this critical age group not taking or continuing lessons. Children are dropping out of lessons at around 8 years old well before many children have developed a comprehensive set of swimming and water safety skills. Swimming l...essons provide children with the skills and knowledge to participate safely and enjoy a range of water activities in different environments. ENROL YOUR CHILD IN LESSONS TODAY. #WeSwim The We Swim Movement is being led by Royal Life Saving Society - Australia with the support of the Australian Government. We Swim is proudly supported by the following national aquatic organisations: Aligned Leisure, ASCTA, Australian Swim Schools Association, Belgravia Leisure, BlueFit Swimming, Jump! 24.01.2022 Nice to share the amazing story of Carly Ryan, Illawarra Regional Manager, @Royal Life Saving - NSW ACT Tasmania - whose snap decision to take a defibrillator home during the Christmas break saved her mother's life. Carly is sharing her story in the hope it will help others who find themselves in similar situations - emphasising that anyone can use a defibrillator. You don't need special training as the device contains simple directions and "talks" through the process with... audio instructions about what to do. Defibrillators are commonly located in publicly accessible places such as train stations, shopping centres, gyms and sporting facilities. About 33,000 Australians have a sudden cardiac arrest each year. For every minute that passes, the chance of survival falls by 10 per cent. Everyone can be a lifesaver. If you have lost someone during a recent flooding event, or been rescue...d, it is especially important to check in with your support network and identify steps to help you get the additional support you may need.
