21.01.2022 We don’t want any deaths or hospitalisations due to drowning this summer. Adults following the Don’t Duck Out, Make It SAFE tips, such as keeping constant watch of kids around portable pools, can reduce the risk and potentially save lives. Supervise. Actively watch children within arm’s reach. Don’t leave older children in charge. Act. Learn emergency response including CPR. It’s important to start compressions and breaths as soon as possible when a child is pulled from the... water and to call triple zero (000) for help. If there are two people, one should make the phone call while the other does CPR. Fence. In most parts of Australia, pools filled with more than 30cm of water, are legally required to have a compliant safety barrier. Check with your local council or relevant government agency. Empty and store safely. After keeping watch all day, pour away water and store the pool where children can’t reach. Never leave it where it can refill with rain or sprinkler water. #dontduckout #makeitsafe #royallifesaving

03.01.2022 This NAIDOC Week, we acknowledge the traditional owners of the land we walk on, the Kaurna people. We want to celebrate the success for water safety and education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. With the help of community programs such as VACSWIM and Holiday Swim, drowning related deaths have decreased by 47% among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Together, we can work towards improving this statistic. Head to our website to find more informa...tion on our programs. https://bit.ly/38xC0zo #NAIDOCWeek2020 #NAIDOC See more

02.01.2022 **** Media Release - COVID: Pools **** Dear members of the public, We understand this Thursday, Friday and through the weekend will see temperatures rise to 40c.... Unfortunately, due to current COVID-19 restrictions (in place until Tuesday 1st December), pools are NOT open for public access to recreational swimmers. They are only open for rehabilitation and fitness (lap swimming). The advice from Recreation SA to avoid disappointment is to: plan ahead, check to see if your desired centre is open and make a booking if required, ONLY to attend for fitness or rehabilitation purposes, come properly prepared if you do visit, and WATCH AROUND WATER to keep your family safe. Our centres would love to see you, and we value your business, but we may have to turn visitors away if you are not swimming for fitness or rehabilitation purposes. We can’t wait to see you again once these restrictions have been lifted.
