19.01.2022 Resistance, Impedance, Inductance and Resonance are words that I see loosely thrown around in Guitar conversations without any real understanding of what they mean, nor how they effect the final tonal quality of a Guitar. Worse still, they are often used interchangeably to represent each other when they don't - the laws of physics apply to pick-up, string, length, width, depth, and timber choice! AC is very different to DC - Understand this, you understand how to make a Guitar sing in ways it never has before! Having been an RF Engineer (Radio Frequency) for 30 years there's a lot I bring to the Guitar Industry that hasn't been seen or tried before! Be prepared for something very different!

18.01.2022 There are a number of things that inspired the decision to create Royal Riff's. The first came about when I bought myself a new Tele and could finally convert my old Multi-cultural Tele into a dedicated Open-G Rhythm Machine. No more re-tuning, finally I could leave one guitar in Open G. Thus started a journey This had its problems 1) which pick-ups to use; 2) where to place them; and 3) the extra tension on the neck warping it! So I started looking on the market and I not...iced there wasn't much around. I also noticed Joshua at JH Guitars in Tasmania, a young guy succeeding, passionate, and ingenious, and he truly inspired a 54 year old to action. Then I thought well, no one's really using the vast array of Queensland Timbers available. Something often discussed at the RoyalMail Goodna where I had been fortunate enough to play an Acoustic made from Laminated Bunya Pine; a unique mellow tone! So I thought why not!! Despite being an absolute follower of the Rick Parfitt School of Open-G (6-strings), the journey took me down slide, ZZ Top, and inevitably to the Keith Richards School of Open-G (5-strings). I'm converted, "Keef" has a point, plus it releases the tension off the neck, in fact there is less tension than standard tuning, and it's easier to play - what's a G between friends? Besides, you don't need pneumatic fingers, and concrete forearms like Rick! This led to experimentation with Pick-ups, the development of the unique Royal Riffs Blend control, and we're in Business. The Teleblaster came into being! https://youtu.be/Ar2PQRvUn0Y

08.01.2022 Been busy working on the Website yesterday Work in progress coming along nicely .... thought you'd appreciate a sneaky peek!!

07.01.2022 Thanks for joining the page - the official opening is coming soon! But, in the meantime here's an interesting article from Guitar dot com on the "best" telecaster neck pick-ups!! Personally, Orpheus Pickups by David Paul in Melbourne have an amazing home grown Australian product, and I'm recommending them on my Custom builds. The clarity and tonal quality of their T72 speaks for itself, certainly a contender on this list anyway!! https://guitar.com//buyers-g/best-telecaster-neck-pickups/

06.01.2022 Welcome to Royal Riff's! Here are a few words from "Keef" on the constrictions and benefits of Open G tuning! Royal Riff's has developed a specialised, purpose built, Open G guitar inspired by the playing of "Keef" and the late "Wild Old Man of RocknRoll" Rick Parfitt! Stay tuned - for the release
