24.01.2022 Don’t cool your heels in a local election thinking that far-right extremism is just a joke or can be glossed over by helpful work in some other aspect. It’s very serious; it’s got to be nipped in the bud. If you vote in far-right rhetoric at local level it will set its sights on Federal level. These people are careerists; they are not particularly concerned with the long term social effects of their awful words. When all the ribbon-cutting and baby-kissing starts, don’t forget what it really boils down to: far-right sympathisers and liars on a ballot paper. A liar in a nice suit is still a liar.
17.01.2022 Brooms Head Yaegl Country ABORIGINAL LAND The Tree of Life is right here. Created naturally after a few stormy days here in the Clarence Valley. The Water is... soaked by Tea Tree Oils hence the brown colour and the extra water flowing out of the lake has created this stunning natural master piece :@derry_moroney_photography #clarencevalley #newsouthwales #loveNSW #seeaustralia #exploreyourbackyard #holidayherethisyear
13.01.2022 Masters of economics? I think not. The Morrison government's feverish messaging over the years about their supposed authoritative position on economics is a massive lie. When people aren't able to even afford the essentials for life, they cannot even come at "just getting a job". The Morrison government's M.O. is to carry on as if these are everyday circumstances. In case they hadn't noticed, we just had a massive bushfire and are in a continuing pandemic in need of decisionm...aking that is based on evidence and not ideology. Cutting the incomes of vulnerable Aussies to below the poverty line will COST JOBS, as Cassandra Goldie has made abundantly clear, and she was saying it well before 2020. The most vulnerable Australians are counting on their government to have their best interests at the forefront every day. It's just not happening.
13.01.2022 Right-wing populist leaders with anti-environment agendas are on the rise, and in many countries, environmental protest groups have been labelled terrorists. Environmentalism has become weaponised as a political ideology, rather than properly viewed as a universal mode of self-preservation. Time to move on without the deniers, have CONSTRUCTIVE and POSITIVE conversations and get on with the *actual* problemsolving.
07.01.2022 Gosh, this really feels like an age ago, doesn't it? It was only August, but by then, we had been in the thick of pandemic already for a good six months and I was still fighting to keep the Comleroy Road PS school canteen open. Thankfully, we won that fight. We won it together. And what's more, we even replaced that dodgy old freezer.... It really goes to show what a community is capable of, even after having experienced such incredible adversity. Bushfire be goshdarned... those kids went back to school like little champions all over Australia and they taught us adults a thing or two about resilience. I think there might be something in a child's aptitude for mindfulness and their nonstop pursuit of fun that had them so expertly adjusting to totally new conditions, and with nothing but a smile for the teachers as they smashed some sanitiser on their hands and trotted in for the day. While we bicker over masks and tear the world to bits, the kids are just doing the thing kids do. Just getting on with it. Bless those kids. They're keeping us all sane. I can't wait to get back to canteen duty, see that lunchtime stampede again and pretend to be cross when all I want to do is laugh. The kids will get us all through this. R
