17.01.2022 The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front after the bloodshed of World War I. Over the past century, this moment has been adopted across the globe as a time to remember those who served and sacrificed in all wars and conflicts. This Remembrance Day, RSL Victoria is asking all Australians to Remember to Remember to commit to pausing for just one minute to remember those who gave their lives in service to their country, those who returned home injured or ill, and those who bravely serve our country today.

15.01.2022 Fired up for the season ahead; Vasika Perera with his new kit! Training announcement to come, just waiting on Council approval.

14.01.2022 Congratulations to our very own Tom Lennox for reaching the milestone of 100 games when the 2’s take on Williamstown tomorrow. Tom is entering his 9th season at RPB, scoring over 700 runs and taking over 150 wickets. 100 games in 9 seasons shows you the bloke has hardly missed a game which is a testament to his commitment for the club we all love to represent. Here’s to the next 100 big red, enjoy the day out tomorrow!

14.01.2022 On a sunny Saturday afternoon, the boys from Royal Park Brunswick Cricket Club took on St Andrews Pascoe Vale and East Keilor. While the first eleven results weren't what we hoped for there were some promising performances from Coach Beau Carey, Harshan Yogendra & Vasika Perera. Meanwhile, the pace of Yathidu Arangala was too hot for the St Andrews batsmen, this resulted in him bowling 5 maiden overs and claiming the best figures of 4/10. After some hard work by Peter Lusted ...& skipper Danny Dyer, Yathidu Arangala was needed to add the finishing touches with 39 runs not out with a massive six over midwicket to seal the game and give the second eleven a 2 wicket win. The third eleven showed an all-round performance with bat and ball, claiming a 91 run victory over East Keilor. Debutants Dilan Weerasinghe and Declan Allen stole the show with the bat while Liam Swallow showed a complete performance with 30 runs and crucial 3/16. Returnees Kusal Karunaratnage and Smit Tanksale also showed some good discipline with the ball claiming 2 wickets apiece. This week would a busy week with RPBCC playing Jacana in a T20 encounter on Thursday at Ransford oval followed by games against Sydenham Hillside in the 1s and 2s and St Francis De Sales in the 3rds. #WeAreOne #uptheparkers.

11.01.2022 Saturday 5th December wasn't the best of days for the parkers who went down in all 3 grades. The 1s on a wet summer day batted first and managed a modest score of 111 for the loss of 9 wickets thanks to Beau Carey's 34 runs and Rhys Contessa's 21 in the late middle order. RPBCC boys weren't going down without a fight and Altona had their work cut out especially when Harshan Yogendra and Chris Neagle had the ball. The pair claimed 7 wickets for 43 in 15 overs and took the game... right to the end but some fight at the end from Altona North saw them through with 5 balls to spare. The second eleven was handed a thumping loss of 8 wickets with 20 overs to spare. Batting first RPBCC lost Pete Lusted and then some repair work done by Andrew Hinkley (24), Dilan Weerasinghe (26) and Nikhil Shekar (27) with some late hitting by Tom Kimpton (19) helped us post 9/139 at the end of 40 overs. With the rain behind Altona North batsman, they decided they had to get it done as soon as they and went on hitting us around Ransford Oval. The only bowler who was spared by James Hyde who claimed 1 for 38 while the others went the journey. The 3rds didn't have the best of days with bat and ball either after 2 comfortable wins in the first two rounds. Batting first RPBCC only managed 91 runs for the loss of 7 wickets mainly due to a composed innings from skipper Michael Tsiaras who scored 39 and a contribution from debutant Rohan Desai who scored 11. The 3s started off with some disciplined bowling from Kieran Clarke and Smit Tanksale but the pick of the bowlers was debutant Abowsikan Sivakuru who claimed 2/30 and Scott Condon 1/14. It was quite evident that the runs weren't enough but some disciplined bowling managed to drag the game to the end and giving the Seddon batsman some nerves. Heading into Christmas the boys are back to the drawing board and working hard at training to get 3 out of 3 this week. On more positive news, RPBCC has advanced to the next stage of the T20 league after beating Maribyrnong Park St Marys and topping the table, once again thanks to the spin triplets of Chris, Beau and Harshan seeing us through with some solid batting by Dilan. #WeAreOne #uptheparkers

10.01.2022 Further to our earlier post, we would like to acknowledge the service of our outgoing committee members; Pete Lusted as a general committee member and three long-serving committee members in Glenn Contessa, Tom Crabtree and Scott Condon. Pete served two seasons on the committee, acting as a fantastic conduit between the executive committee and the playing group and we appreciate his years of serving the committee. Glenn has been a ‘Mr Fix-It’ around the place for over 10 year...s, completing a number of thankless tasks with minimal fuss. Whether it be preparing, cooking and serving meals most Thursdays and Saturdays, stacking fridges when bar stock is low or cleaning the clubrooms without being asked (just to name a few), Glenn is always reliable and I’m sure we’ll continue to see him around the club. In Scott and Tom, we acknowledge their efforts above and beyond their terms as RPBCC President. Whilst their list of roles and responsibilities during their time would almost be endless, more recently they have played a key role in managing our major functions in the Reverse Raffle and Business Luncheon. However, their legacy as committee members will be overseeing and delivering the Western Pavilion redevelopment, which will see a $2million upgrade to our social and changing room facilities commence in December 2020. To all gentlemen who have served our committee, we thank you sincerely. Rhys Contessa RPBCC President on behalf of all RPBCC members

09.01.2022 On a chilly Melbourne afternoon, Royal Park Brunswick CC took on a strong Sydenham Hillside and St Francis De Sales. While 2 out of the 3 results on Saturday weren't what we hoped for, there were some promising performances across all the teams. The first eleven had a stiff task ahead, chasing 200 in 40 overs after some disciplined performances from skipper Nick Neagle who claimed 2/38 and his new-ball partner Harshan Yogendra bowled an economical 2/28. After 3 wickets in qui...ck succession, RPBCC recovered well with a hard-fought half-century from Matthew Reynolds who kept the chase alive and continue to give the Parkers some hope during the chase. After Matty's dismissal Nicholas Tsiaras was the lone warrior for RPBCC with a valuable 30 runs and eventually fell short by 57 runs. Meanwhile, the 2s lost the toss on what looked like a good cricket wicket and was in control most of the 1st innings, especially when Damian Mobilia, who bowled exceptionally well claiming 1 wicket for 14 runs in his 8 overs on a day when everyone was on the higher side. Needing to control the run flow, skipper Danny Dyer threw the ball to Saurabh Raje who now has a new role bowling in the death overs one of the many smart moves he made on the field. Raje bowled extremely well with only giving 14 runs in his last 3 overs and also claiming a wicket. Saurabh's figures do not do justice to how well he bowled due to some ordinary fielding. Meanwhile, RPBCC looked like cruising to win when some brilliance in the field ended a hard-fought knock from and Andrew Hinkley who fell for 60 runs, and Dilan Weerasinghe for 29. The left-handed Pollard Kusal Karunatnage took the game deep with some lusty blows but weren't enough to see us home. However, skipper Michael Tsiaras has everything under control with 2 wins in 2 games and another crushing victory over St Francis De Sales. After losing the toss and asking to bowl first James Hyde went on with what he knows best, taking wicket after wicket and claiming 3 wickets along with Liam Swallow and Declan chipping in with 2 wickets too. Chasing 73 to win Aniket Gupta and Smit Tanksale took chase by the neck and got to work striking a 44 run partnership with Smit Tanksale making 21 and Aniket Gupta contributing a patient 36 not out to see the chase through to the end. The cherry on the top was when Krishna Shashank sealed it with a boundary showcasing the dominant performance by the Parkers in the Phil Thomas Shield. #uptheparkers #WeAreOne

09.01.2022 Once again, it was a weekend of mixed results for the Parkers. Taking on Williamstown CYMS, the first eleven claimed their first win of the season. Given his first opportunity to open the batting this season, Rhys Contessa scored a magnificent 82 and was ably supported by Beau Carey (31). After a solid partnership of 66 runs with Beau for the second wicket, Rhys combined with Andrew ‘Butch’ Hinkley for 38 for the third wicket before Rhys reached his half-century with a flick ...in front of square leg. Throughout the middle to late overs, Rhys kept a cool head and was supported by the middle order to help RPBCC reach 6/170 from our 40 overs. During Willy’s run chase, the consistency and discipline showed - especially by the spin twins Chris Neagle (2/28) and Harshan Yogendra (2/38) - and ‘golden arm’ Rhys Contessa (2/17) ensured that we came away with a 14-run victory. Meanwhile, the second eleven haven’t been able to put everything together just yet as we were handed another defeat after posting a very competitive score. In Tom Kimpton's 100th RPBCC game, we found ourselves in early trouble at 4/28 before skipper Danny Dyer (76) and second XI debutant Declan Allen (45*) combined for a second eleven, fifth-wicket record-breaking partnership of 129 to guide us to a competitive score of 5/170 in 40 overs. Some early wickets kept us interested but dropped catches once again proved costly as Williamstown CYMS eventually knocked over our total with 11 overs remaining. The pick of the bowlers was Saurabh Raje who ended up with 1/20 while Tom Kimpton (1/35) was unlucky to have three catches dropped off his bowling. In the third eleven, a terrific bowling performance led by Adil Fazad (3/25) and Hamish Stafford (2/4) restricted West Coburg to a modest total of 89. Unfortunately, the batting was a whole different story as we were rolled for just 49. Once again, congratulations to Tom Kimpton on reaching 100 RPBCC games and well done to Nick Neagle, who posted his maiden victory as 1’s skipper.
