19.01.2022 Is your Evap cooling struggling on humid days? The way an evaporative cooler works is, water is pumped from the sump on the bottom of you Evap cooler on your roof to the top of the cooler, were it passes through a baffle which breaks up the flow of water. As the water drops out of the baffle a fan blows air through the water which breaks the water up into smaller droplets which are then forced through your ducts into your rooms. Humidity is, the amount of moisture in the air.... All an evaporative cooler is doing is adding more moisture to what is already in the air, so no cooling affect happens. These are the time a refrigerated air conditioner works better, a refrigerated air conditioner not only cools the air, it takes the moisture out of the air, it is de-humidifying the air. If you have a refrigerated air conditioner running in the cooling mode, you will notice water running out of the drain pipe, more so on humid days, this is the moisture being taken out of the air before it is forced back into the area being cooled See more
