22.01.2022 Great to see the Northern Rivers Times are supporting the sailing. If you didn't catch the article in today's paper here it is. The back page (sport) had the same photo taking half of the page - good stuff. If you would like a link to the paper - https://issuu.com/heartlandmagazineaus/docs/_13_enews

22.01.2022 More action from last Sunday. The river may not be this clean for a while - it was stunning.

22.01.2022 Jake Liddell and Lucy Copeland from the Australian Olympic NACRA 17 team flying through the RRSRC fleet today - amazing seeing these boats out there - thanks for sailing with us!

21.01.2022 Mia (one of our member’s daughters) decided she would like to raise some money for the sailing club to thank them for recently teaching some of the kids at her school to sail. She gathered all of her books that she no longer read and asked for small donations to help buy some more kids’ life jackets. She raised an amazing $95 for the club.... What’s more, her thoughtfulness sparked a spiral of kindness. A local tiler bought all of the remaining books. And then Lisa Gilbert from Marine Outlet pledged to donate five kids’ life jackets to help Mia. We can’t thank Mia, Mark (the tiler), everyone who bought a book, and of course Lisa from Marine Outlet enough. This is what makes the sailing community what it is.

21.01.2022 Thanks for the chance to take Swell Lady for a spin with Shamus showing myself and Richard the ropes. First real time on a Corsair and a good start to more sailing for both of us.

19.01.2022 LEARN TO SAIL COURSE We will be running a sailing course over three Saturdays from 8th Feb 2020 for kids over 8y and adults. No experience necessary. Still a few places left. Contact the club if interrested

19.01.2022 A whole lot of photos from last Sunday's race. Forecast for tomorrow (so far) - a lighter Nor-Easter.

18.01.2022 Going nuts not being able to sail? Barnacles starting to grow on your sailing brain? Remove them by sailing online! It's free, you get to sail on courses in various parts of the world, racing virtually in real time against other sailing enthusiasts from many parts of the globe. Keeps your brain active, it's not too difficult to manage your boat and the tactical challenges are as real as if sailing for real - taking the weather, the geography, and forecasts into consideration.... There are usually three or four races going at once. The one in the picture is from a current race off Vancouver. The previous race was leg three of a race around Australia - Hobart to Sydney. Different boats are used for each race, sometimes there are choices in boat. There are fast races completed within a day, others go for many days - such as tall ship racing across vast ocean expanses. There is a live chat board to communicate with other racers. For overnight racing you can set a course with a timer, or set your alarm like those who really get into it. Here is the mission statement of the site: Sailonline.org is a community-owned sailing navsim game providing a realistic, entertaining and educational platform for those who love the sea and sailing, wherever they may be around the globe. Originally created by Sailport AB in Stockholm, Sweden by Jakob Kuttenkeuler and Kalle Haglunds - a two-man team combining academic, sailor, computer genius, scientist and boss Sailonline today is probably the most realistic sailing navigation simulator game on the internet. Enjoy your sailing! Sailonline.org is owned and operated by Sailonline NavSim AB, a not for profit, community-owned company. Sailonline's mission is to offer a superior internet-based sailing and navigation simulation to the global sailing community, whilst ensuring a future of growth and continuous enhancement to benefit its users through financial viability and long term vision. All Sailonline boats and their properties are purely virtual and do not necessarily reflect real world data. Sailonline is free for everyone to play and is supported by SYC Memberships.

18.01.2022 Some shots from Sunday before last, good to see some boats on the water - in quite a hefty SW wind - bringing about some impressive boat speed.

17.01.2022 Some pre-race photos from last Sunday at the club

17.01.2022 Learn to sail this morning unfortunately limited to rigging of boats and discussion, due to the flood events of recent days bringing the contents of what was gathered along the way to the club waters. Constant stream of logs, branches, and other debris, floating in very silted and dirty water. Aside from the physical obstructions the prospect of people being in that water was considered unsafe for health reasons - dead fish, sewage overflow etc.

17.01.2022 A wonderful resource rich in local (and wider) maritime history is looking for volunteers - and it's only a stroll from the club!

17.01.2022 More shots from last Sunday, starting off with the socially distanced outside briefing.

16.01.2022 Some new faces; some old ones; some hiding; some happy; our people enjoying a perfect day sailing during a Pandemic.

16.01.2022 https://www.nbnnews.com.au//richmond-river-sailing-club-h/ NBN TV coverage of the weekend's regatta, broadcast last night. Nice work Mr Commodore.

16.01.2022 Sailing club action on Australia Day on the Richmond River.

15.01.2022 Action from today's club championship race. Great day for sailing - ignoring the water quality.

14.01.2022 Here is our Virtual Presentation for 2019-2020 season. Enjoy. https://youtu.be/c0izZ4E3cl4

14.01.2022 Action shots of RRSRC sailors from Day 2 at the Harwood Regatta at Big River Sailing Club - Sunday March 8th. Day 1 had been the Bridge to Breakers race, with a range of no wind to strong blustery wind and an outgoing tide it was a testing race. The fastest elapsed time on the long course was two hours and twenty four minutes, the slowest three hours and forty seven minutes, truly making it a marathon for all. We had good representation at the meet:... Trailers/yachts - Andrew McInnes and Todd Goldsmith in Shades of Grey, Graeme Fleming in Welsh Dragon, Paul Morris hitching a ride on Taken it Easy - the large cat. Catamarans - Phill Robbins in Ozspray, Alan Melville in No Waiting, and Anthony Goddard in NACRA 4.5 - 404. Monohulls - Bill Heuchmer, Garry Scott and Vince Selleck in their RS100s, Tom and Brendan McKeown in Toxic the F15, and two NS14s - Duncan Dey and Daniel Gomelsky in Aphrodite, and Trent and Daisy Morgan in Graeme Garden. Well done Commodore Phill - winning the cat division. Well done Alan placing fifth. Well done Bill winning the mono division with yardsticks less than 114, closely followed by Brendan and Tom in second place, and Duncan and Daniel in third. In the yacht/trailer sailor division Paul was part of the winning crew on Taken it Easy, with Andrew and Todd placing second. Many thanks to the Big River Sailing Club for hosting the event!

13.01.2022 Racing action from today's final race of 2020. Heaps of wind strength - club weather station showed gusts up to 26 knots, outgoing tide running against the wind direction and brown water which no one really wanted to be connecting with - hard with such speeds! Serenity recorded her fastest ever speed, Gary in Hooray reckoned he went the fastest he had ever been, Daisy and Trent felt similarly in their NS14. The look on Col Hinwood's and crew Phil Causley's faces as Bill rocketed past them says it all.

13.01.2022 Here's a "best of RS100 nationals" of the photos Duncan's son Daniel took for the club! Boat Nr. - Skipper 243 - Garry 270 - Dave... 438 - Duncan 495 - Vince 518 - Bill (Formula 15s, please remain patient. Daniel will be working on yours next)

12.01.2022 Current Olympic Silver medal champions in the NACRA 17 Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darminan putting on a display during last Sunday's race at RRSRC - amazing control! Incredible seeing Lisa 'crab walking' for optimum balance - very busy. Thanks again for sailing with us.

12.01.2022 Close competition among the top two Formual15s, Second Wind and Secret in the last race of the season.

11.01.2022 First leg action from last Sunday's championship race. More to come...

10.01.2022 Saturday morning at around 7:30am there will be an interview broadcast on Paradise FM 101.9 with sports host Paul Wilson and club members Duncan and Trent discussing RRSRC. It is part of an initiative by Paradise FM to cover more sports in the region. The interview was recorded in the clubhouse last Sunday until the noise drove them to more tranquility in the shed with the pacers! If you can't tune into a radio (101.9) here is the live streaming link online.

09.01.2022 For our female members: She Sails Australia is running an online webinar on how protests work. See below for details and registration.

09.01.2022 Racing cancelled today - I don't know why? : ) Photos taken at clubhouse before midday, before the strong stuff is due.

06.01.2022 The start of last Sunday's Nick Peate Memorial upriver race, as filmed from the tower - thanks Garry. Geoff Benson nails it - many didn't! A good reminder to watch the flags and not rely on hearing the hooters.

05.01.2022 One hardy crew venturing into what would have been the race zone at race time had today's race been on. Most of the branches had gone but the water was not clean - the third photo was taken in Martin Street Boat Harbour at the same time.

04.01.2022 Nick Peate Memorial Upriver Race 2020. An all fleet start, the journey up river against a raging outgoing tide, running against the South East breeze on the leg to Burns Point. Water still very brown and frothy from recent flooding. Doldrums rounding Burns Point and approaching the rounding mark near Pimlico Island. Very quick trip back with the tide and 'moguls' from Burns Point to home. An excellent race.

04.01.2022 Screened earlier on NBN news - well done Phill!

04.01.2022 Plenty of action when Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin with Jake Liddell and Lucy Copeland sailing foiling Nacra 17s join in the Richmond River Sailing & Rowing Club race.

03.01.2022 The girls showing their style on Mr Bond. Music by Broadfoot.

03.01.2022 Images of last Sunday's race. Strong tide and weak wind made for an interesting challenge. Racing with us were Australian Sailing team members Lisa Darminan steering F15 Mr Bond, and Lucy Copeland crewing on F15 Magic Formula. Later on Jason Waterhouse and Jake Liddell came out for a solo sail each on their NACRA 17s, weaving through the finishing race and escaping to the open ocean. Great to have them with us and a beautiful day all round.

03.01.2022 With determination and hard work the Australian Nacra 17 Olympic team has been obtaining practice in ocean waves and wind off Ballina for the past two weeks. Conditions similar to what they expect to meet at the Olympics next year in Enoshima, Japan.

03.01.2022 Footage of what we would have had to have raced in, taken during what would have been race time. Preference of log or large chunk of floating riverbank wrapped around centreboard? That of course is after combating the strong outgoing tide of brown floodwater with very little wind available to power a boat.

03.01.2022 A great video from Rod Smith with hilarious interviews and great sailing action.

02.01.2022 Speed, colour and lots of fun in last Sunday's race - with the occasional Australian NACRA 17 team flying past. This Sunday September 27th is the second club championship race of the season. Forecast at this stage is a moderate SSE wind with an incoming tide - should be great racing conditions.

02.01.2022 Longer YouTube video of Nacra 17s in RRSRC club race here https://youtu.be/i90y5JX7sCI With more drone footage

02.01.2022 Garry Scott on duty today had a a surprise visit from NBN today to cover today's Nick Peate Memorial race. He did really well - here's the report which aired on television just before 7pm tonight.

02.01.2022 Photos of the sailing action on the Sunday of the regatta. Three races for each division, excepting the catamarans who raced once. Spectacular day to sail - lots of speed. Many thanks to all the visiting sailors who travelled to join us - hope to see you again next time.

01.01.2022 I had a sail today, and disinfected the Men's change room before and after using it. It took 1 1/2 minutes each time. This is minimal effort, but could save your life, or many other club members' lives.
