06.01.2022 Some of the Melbourne team for breakfast at InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto this morning. 2018 has been a great year for RSG Lawyers. And today we would l...ike to appreciate and thank our hardworking team for a successful 2018. Every team member has worked with dedication and hard work that has allowed RSG Lawyers to consistently grow and establish the reputation that it has. 2018 has also had its set of challenges. In particular, we note the difficulties for many of our clients in the Australian immigration law space due to the Federal Government's immigration law policies which continue to remain in a state of flux. We understand the hurdles that our clients face, especially in the current political climate, and we have continued to not only mitigate such challenges but to also seek remedies for our client's under the law where actions by the Department of Home Affairs may have been unlawful. As we discussed at the breakfast this morning, we have various planned events for 2019 and look forward to continually innovating and providing you with comprehensive ethical, trustworthy and responsive legal services. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for your continued support.
04.01.2022 Your Immigration Pathway and the Coronavirus We are sharing a short guidance note to try and help you stay ahead in your immigration pathway during the COVID-19... event: a) At this stage, there are no changes to the Immi Portal system and the Department of Home Affairs continues to operate. b) For most visas, you require evidence of valid health insurance at the time of application and so it is important that you are able to obtain evidence of valid health insurance before any possible "quarantine" or "shutdown" occurs should you be looking to submit an application in the near future. c) Institutes and universities may also be shutting down for a period although they may be conducting classes online depending on what direction is given by the Australian Federal and State Governments. Similarly to point b), if you are renewing your student visa, please do not leave it to the last moment to obtain your Confirmation of Enrollment as there is a degree of uncertainty due to the nature of the COVID-19 event. d) If you are submitting any Federal Circuit Court application register with the Elodgement service so you are able to submit the Application online as there may be restrictions imposed in the near future about filing in person at the court. You can register here: https://www.fedcourt.gov.au/online-services/elodgment. It is also advisable that you have your affidavit prepared and witnessed well in advance. Remember, only qualified professionals can witness your affidavit. e) Any Bridging Visa A (BVA) application must be made by post and the Department of Home Affairs no longer accepts BVA applications in person at their offices. f) If you are submitting an application for merits review to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, it can be completed online and, in most cases, there is no need to attend the Tribunal registry in person. You are welcome to contact our office on (03) 9350 4440 if you have any questions.
