23.01.2022 The way were showing respect this ANZAC Day may have changed. But our respect never will. Lest We Forget.
22.01.2022 ANZAC Day 2020 This year was like no other, with all ANZAC Day observances across Australia, and the world cancelled because of the COVID 19 lockdowns. Please find some photos sent in by some of our RSL Nedlands members, and how they celebrated the dawn service in Perth
21.01.2022 Good Afternoon, We could be in hibernation for some time This suggest that we need to stay in touch so that the Sub-Branch can emerge enthusiastically when the winter is passed!... On a serious note, if any member is finding it difficult to access supplies (except toilet paper) or services, can they please contact me either by email or on 0408 540 082. I will see what can be done to help. For those of you with a computer equipped with a camera, there is the possibility of videoconferencing This could be a Sub-Branch meeting or just a chance for a few of us to talk about a subject of interest. And of course there is always the telephone. With ANZAC Day approaching, I thought this poem might be appropriate: THE GOLDEN RULE A little more kindness, a little less creed, A little more giving, a little less greed; A little more smile, a little less frown. A little less kicking a man when hes down; A little more We, a little less I , A little more laugh, a little less cry. Russ Tyson OAM (deceased) And on a lighter note:

18.01.2022 Todays media reports that RSLWA is banning the flying of the Aboriginal flag and Welcome to Country dedications at ANZAC Day is false as per the official release. MEDIA RELEASE 21 February 2020 RSLWA HAS ENORMOUS RESPECT FOR OUR FIRST NATIONS VETERANS AND IS NOT BANNING ANYTHING...Continue reading
17.01.2022 ANZAC Day ceremony update, "What has been proposed is everyone goes to the end of their driveway at 0600 and have the nation line its streets everywhere and share a minutes silence turned to the ABC offering the national ceremony."
17.01.2022 This is obviously going to be very different kind of ANZAC Day. Saturday will be our first ANZAC Day since WWII without a traditional Dawn Service. While coming together in person this year just isnt possible, we hope that you will still honour those who have fallen, those who have served, and those who continue to serve our nation.... Were asking Western Australians to stand at the end of their driveways, or on their balconies at 6am on Saturday morning to pay their respects. Tune into the radio and observe The Ode, The Last Post and the Minute Silence. While we cant gather in the same place, we can still commemorate their service, together as a state. Lest We Forget.
17.01.2022 On this day in 1942, Darwin was bombed. Darwin was subject to 64 Japanese air raids during the Second World War. Two members of 10 Army Troop Company, Royal Australian Engineers, inspect a Japanese mine on a Darwin beach.
16.01.2022 One of our Veterans, Doug Arrowsmith, received this parcel this morning With the words, Thankyou as he left
15.01.2022 From Barry Nunn, our Secretary I hope that you are all diligently staying within your homes and eating old Army ration packs left over from WWII!! This isolation cannot be allowed impact our observance of ANZAC Day... You will see some advertisements in the newspapers, including the Post (courtesy of Nedlands Council) encouraging us all to participate by going to the front of our houses at 6:00 am on ANZAC Day, lighting a candle, and if possible tuning a radio to the ABC broadcast of the service. We intend to do so, and to hoist the National Flag, as we have the required flagpole. If you are finding isolation a bit hard you might enjoy the attached short video

09.01.2022 #BREAKING RSLWA chief executive John McCourt says all 2020 Anzac Day services in WA that attract crowds of more than 500 people will be cancelled due to the cor...onavirus pandemic. Mr McCourt said the decision was yet to be formalised by the RSLWA board, but the organisation would follow the advice of chief medical officer Brendan Murphy and Prime Minister Scott Morrison. "My board is discussing this over the weekend... [but] obviously for example in Perth for the major dawn service in Kings Park and in the street parade and the commemorative service... clearly that draws [many] more than 500 people so we would follow that advice," he said "RSLWA has two key considerations to make, firstly a duty of care and secondly knowing that our demographics have [many] elderly veterans and their health and safety come first."
08.01.2022 MESSAGE FROM THE STATE PRESIDENT SUPPORT FOR SUB-BRANCHES DUE TO CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC The unprecedented implications of the Coronavirus pandemic have impacted on how RSLWA will continue to operate. I would like to stress that, as Sub-Branches are the backbone of our organisation, RSLWA State Branch is here to support Sub-Branches, veterans and veterans families in navigating the many challenges that face us all.... Extraordinary times sometimes means extraordinary measures. The Board of Directors has now taken measures to assist Sub-Branches facing financial difficulties and/or loss of revenue. Weve got your back. The Board has now approved a support package that empowers the CEO to work alongside Sub-Branches to assist with financial hardship. If your Sub-Branch is facing difficulties, I ask that you contact the CEO immediately and work will commence to provide you with a tailored and sustainable solution. Please register your need for assistance by emailing Executive Assistant, Nola Keen at [email protected] and/or mobile 0413 952 659. Financial assistance from RSLWA itself will be in the form of a grant with no expectation of repayment. Right now, the CEO and his staff are working on a number of support mechanisms including, but not limited to, direct financial support from RSLWA as well as State Government and Federal Government relief initiatives. These include, for example, compensation for loss of anticipated income from the now-cancelled ANZAC Day Street Appeal and other losses of revenue caused by COVID-19. After the Easter break, State Branch is ready to work closely with Sub-Branches on an individual basis to ascertain current financial status and work on emergency funding and associated support. This work does not prevent RSLWAs ability to maintain services to veterans. This crucial service will continue during this extremely challenging time. Together we will not only navigate this crisis, but I have every confidence that we will be a stronger organisation as a result. May I wish you a safe and happy Easter despite the restrictions we are under. Peter Aspinall AM State President
