16.01.2022 The van has very few bookings for Jun, Jul and early Aug. Have something happening in yoir patch, or maybe just would like me to set up outside your local shops, for a day or two? Recently spent two days outside the IGA at Moura and apart from a lot of chats about the weather, managed to actually deal with about 12 veteran enquiries. Three of which have lead to claims. Fishing competitions, car shows, anywhere people gather.

14.01.2022 With the restrictions in place on face-to-face interactions with the public the usual poppy sales by Sub Branches at shops etc have had to be withdrawn. This year, because of circumstances, RSL Queensland are supporting Light Up The Dawn. See this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMFf4y_d4GU There are other options: you could try to make a poppy or get the kids to make a wreath with parental help. How to make a poppy https://youtu.be/Qe0uqc6ImgQ ... Video for kids on how to make a wreath: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsTalhKnddM&t=9s The Military Shop offers online purchases however, they tend to do more ‘bulk’ buys. Betty District Secretary

10.01.2022 The Vietnam Veterans Federation, Queensland Branch has launched its Centenary Anniversary of Armistice Day project which is aimed at recognizing the efforts of all who have contributed to ensuring Australia remains a Free Country. We particularly want 1 million Australians to thank Veterans and current Defence Force members for their service. When we achieve the 1 million entries on the www.sayingthankyou.org.au website all veterans and current serving members of the Austral...ian Defence Force will receive a very clear message that fellow Australians do very much appreciate and value their service. For those suffering PTSD and similar debilitating conditions, it is hoped that such a strong message will both improve their self worth and in particular reduce the suicide rate amongst Veterans. Please share with your friends - lets see if can get 1 million thanks.

09.01.2022 In planning. All to be confirmed.

07.01.2022 Department of Veterans Affairs have advised on their next round of visits to Wide Bay. Isis 28th May, Bundaberg 29th May and Hervey Bay 30th May. Details provided below.

06.01.2022 The ATDP is introducing a new and flexible way to maintain your professional knowledge and to keep your eligibility for professional indemnity insurance up-to-d...ate. The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program will ensure you can continue to provide high-quality services to current and former ADF members and their dependants. CPD is a points-based program similar to those used in most professions. How CPD works From 1 July this year, you will need to accrue 15 CPD points per year and a minimum of 50 points over a three-year period. This means you will need to accrue an `extra` 5 points in one of the three years. You will be able to choose from a wide variety of CPD activities, from multiple choice quizzes to attending local workshops and seminars. In the first year, most advocates will need to complete four online `gap` units, worth 5 points each. These units are to familiarise you with the unique challenges facing younger veterans. Completing these four units will give you 20 points, so youâll only need to accrue 15 units in each of the next two years to meet the 50 point total. More information There`ll be general information about CPD in ATDP Information Sessions being arranged in each region. For advocates, there will also be workshops in your local area to give you the opportunity to learn `hands-on` how CPD and the online CPD portal work. What`s next In July you will receive an email invitation to do the online gap CPD units. You will also receive some instruction on how to use the CPD module If you have any questions, please send an email to: Queensland and Northern Territory - [email protected] New South Wales, ACT or West Australia - [email protected] Victorian, Tasmania and South Australia - [email protected] Regards Brian Warren Coordinator CPD On behalf of the ATDP National Training Team.

04.01.2022 From the latest Qld JP newsletter Advance Care Planning Queensland is the first jurisdiction in Australia to have a state-wide, standardised clinical approach t...o access advance care planning (ACP) documents. A copy of completed Enduring Power of Attorney, Advance Health Directive, Statement of Choices and revocation documents can be sent to the Office of ACP for review and upload to the person’s electronic Queensland Health hospital record (The Viewer). This process: supports individuals and substitute decision-makers to know their ACP document and therefore their wishes can be readily accessed by clinicians when needed allows clinicians to have direct access to the person’s ACP document(s) and to have confidence in the quality of the information contained within it. The Office of ACP is a free state-wide service, funded by the Queensland Department of Health to promote the important process of ACP. The Office of ACP (staffed by clinicians and administration officers) helps clinical staff and individuals across Queensland by: sharing reviewed ACP documents with doctors involved in a person’s care connecting people to ACP services in their local area (where available). To date, the Office of ACP has uploaded more than 16,000 ACP documents. Clinicians in Queensland Health hospitals/services, Queensland Ambulance Service, authorised general practitioners and some private hospitals can view uploaded ACP documents in the ACP Tracker in The Viewer. Click here to watch a video explaining how the ACP Tracker is used clinically and the importance of ACP from an individual's perspective please In your role as a JP or Cdec, let people know they can send a copy of their documents to the Office of ACP for upload to The Viewer. Individuals can also upload their own ACP documents to their My Health Record. For more information, contact the Office of ACP, Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm.

02.01.2022 Just for info. Have spoken to some sub branches about running family movie night. I'm at the Goomeri show today, and tonight they are doing an outdoor screening. Inflatable screen and projector are borrowed from Murgon PCYC. Movie licence for public display was $300. Great idea for community events.
