21.01.2022 Prepare your own ANZAC Day home service to Light Up The Dawn. RSL South Australia has addressed public requests for dawn service resources by posting a home ser...vice guide with a format and links to bugle calls and national anthems at https://bit.ly/3aSuhKr The Adelaide Dawn Service (closed to the public) will be live broadcast commencing at 06:00 on ABC 891 with Peter Goers and on ABC News 24 (not the ABC main channel). Even if you normally attend the Adelaide Dawn Service, do not attempt to attend this year, as there is an exclusion zone around the memorial and police will move you on. You can listen to your local ABC Radio from your driveway or balcony via your mobile phone. Download the ABC Listen app and search for ABC Adelaide or your local ABC station and join us, as we commemorate ANZAC Day together. Link: https://radio.abc.net.au/help/apps It will also be live streamed here on our Facebook page.

20.01.2022 As a consequence of the COVID-19 impacts, the committee has decided (reluctantly) to temporarily suspend our normal end-of-month Sunday opening. This means that we will not be open this coming Sunday 27 Sep. However, we will be open for lunch on Sunday 29 Nov, following our AGM. Our AGM will start at 11am and further information will be provided closer to the day.... We will continue to review the situation and keep you advised of any changes.

20.01.2022 The Waikerie Remembrance Day service will be held next Wednesday from 10.30 at the Memorial Gardens in Lawrie Terrace. Please note that social distancing requirements will apply.

20.01.2022 Waikerie RSL will be holding it's annual Poppy Day appeal this coming Friday (6 Nov). We will be outside Woolworths and Foodlands from 9am. Donations go to supporting veterans charities.

20.01.2022 A reminder to our members and guests that Bingo is on every Thursday night from 7pm. Come and join the fun.

19.01.2022 The sending of Christmas gifts to deployed troops has been a long time tradition, beginning in the First World War. During the war, community groups across Aus...tralia rallied behind Australian forces to provide them with Christmas billies. Billy cans, like the ones seen in these photos, were filled with treats from back home and delivered to those serving overseas. Some 21,000 billies were distributed to Australian troops for Christmas in 1915. Today, while our service men and women overseas genuinely appreciate support, the volume of packages has become overwhelming and far exceeds the number of personnel currently deployed. This is testament to the generous nature of many supporting organisations and individuals in the Australian community. To balance this generosity, we ask that you consider supporting those that support us, especially those that assist our returned troops, veterans and their families in Australia, as well as federal and state police forces and emergency service workers. 19.01.2022 The Waikerie Anzac Day march and memorial service will be going ahead this year. The march assembles from 7.30am and will commence at 7.45am from the corner of Burns Street and Lawrie Terrace. It will be followed by a remembrance service at the War Memorial Gardens in Lawrie Terrace starting at 8.00am. The Waikerie RSL Club will be open for refreshments following the service. Please note that COVID-19 restrictions relating to check-in and social distancing will be observed.... Would anyone wishing to lay a wreath as part of the service please advise us via Messenger or at [email protected].

18.01.2022 Looking for an "Australian" Australia Day?

17.01.2022 Waikerie Anzac Day 2020. Remembering our veterans and the sacrifice of the fallen. It was a bit different this year but the Anzac spirit lives on.

15.01.2022 While we have all been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak, we can still support our veteran's through the Anzac Appeal. This all goes to veteran support charities. Details below of how you can make a donation on line.

15.01.2022 This year's Anzac Appeal will be held on Friday 23 April. Members of the Waikerie RSL will be outside Woolworths, Foodlands and the Post Office on Friday morning taking donations in support of our veterans. Thank you for your generosity. Lest we forget.

12.01.2022 We are open again for the last Sunday in the month from 2 to 6pm. Come along Sunday 28 March for a lazy Indian-summer afternoon at the club. Make the most of the best time of year in Waikerie. Invite a few friends. We’ll even throw on few bar snacks.... Come and join us.

12.01.2022 It is with deep regret that we have to advise our members and the Waikerie community that there will not be an organised march or remembrance service on Anzac Day this year. This decision is in accordance with direction from RSL SA and in line with government guidelines regarding public gatherings as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. Anzac Day originally commemorates the landings at Gallipoli, but over the years has grown to recognise all those who have served their country ...in the armed services in both war and peace. We hope that veterans, families and community groups will find their own way on Anzac Day to pause and remember those who sacrificed so much in service of their country. Thank you for your support and understanding.

07.01.2022 Sadly, due to a bereavement, we will not be holding Bingo tomorrow night (15 October). Thanks for your understanding.

07.01.2022 We have just had our security cameras upgraded thanks to a generous grant from RAA (https://www.raa.com.au/). We also want to thank Sam Feist Electrical Services for job well done.

05.01.2022 Just letting everyone know that there will not be any Bingo again this Thursday (22 Oct). We will keep you advised.

03.01.2022 On this day... in 1915, the last Australian troops were evacuated from Gallipoli. The evacuation plan, meticulously put together by staff led by Brigadier Gener...al Brudenell White and boldly executed, resulted in no Australian casualties. White went on to perform brilliantly as chief of staff at corps and army level on the Western Front. He was Chief of the General Staff from 1920 to 1923, and then again from March to August 1940 when he was killed in an air crash. General John Monash described him as "far and away the ablest soldier Australia had ever turned out". Lest we forget. Ian Smith Chair ANZAC Day Committee Image of Brudenell White: AWM

01.01.2022 Next Thursday, 12th of December will be out last Bingo for 2019. There will be special Christmas prizes on the night. Come along and join the fun.
